Every LOST fan knows that one of the characters isn't going to live to see the second season. This results in endless speculation as to whom the unlucky survivor will be. I have come up with 3 reasons why each survivor should *ahem* survive, with the exception of the ladies (read on for explanation) and the one person whom I think will die.
3 Reasons Why (insert random name here) should not be the season's corpse
There are only four of them (unless you count Rose, and she isn't around all that much)so they're already massively outnumbered. Each has at least one guy of their own plus backups (Kate has Sawyer and Jack, Claire has Charlie, Sun has Jin, and according to many people, Michael as well, and Shanon has Sayid and Boone.) The guy-to-girl ratio is large enough as it is. Killing off a female would just make it worse.
Charlie
1. Millions of fangirls would commit suicide in despair.
2. Someone has to represent the race of hobbits.
3. He already died once. Everyone would just expect him to be resurrected again.
Sayid
1. Someone has to be available to torture recalcitrant islanders (no matter how guilty it makes he or she feel).
2. He's the only one who understands the French woman's maps.
3. If he died someone is bound to complain about the lack of Middle Eastern representation on the island.
Sawyer
1. Whom would everyone blame when something goes missing?
2. Whom would blame the wild boars for everything going wrong?
3. As time goes by he and Jack are supposedly going to slowly switch personalities. That's gotta be fun to watch.
Jack
1. He's the unofficial leader on the island.
2. As everyone perpetually gets into fistfights someone has to stitch up the wounds.
3. As time goes by he and Sawyer are supposedly going to slowly switch personalities. As I said before, that's gotta be fun to watch.
Locke
1. Who else can offer cryptic advice to help the other survivors?
2. Someone has to represent the hairless people.
3. He's actually perfect content living on the island. Why ruin that?
Michael
1. Walt.
2. Someone's eventually going ot have to build huts for the survivors.
3. The Sun/Michael shippers would wail in pain.
Hurley
1. What would happen to the comic relief?
2. Walt would need a new backgammon opponent.
3. Who else would have thought of making a golf course?
Jin
1. Someone has to catch the fish.
2. They'd lose their metaphor for miscommunication.
3. We need some way of balancing Sun's memories of the past.
Walt
1. It would just be wrong to kill off the only child, especially since it's anyone's guess as to what Claire's new baby will be.
2. How else would we explain the polar bears?
3. Someone has to burn the survivors' only chance of getting off the island.
And now my pick for the corpse.
Boone
1.It would be fun to see how Shannon would react.
2. All he does is hang on Locke's shadow.
3. There just is no happiness on the island for this guy.
