It’s done! It’s done! ZOMG! /Runs around in circles and bangs into the wall, falls over ded.

Iron & Ice is complete at 70,000 words. It’s an upper YA historical fantasy set in Victorian London in 1881, and concerns a young exiled Fae, a missing Fae magician and a coup in the Winter Court. It’s got madhouses. It’s got opium dens and stately country homes and beautiful gowns and mud and magic. Two love interests, one of whom carries a straight razor.

Okay, so I think the book is pretty awesome, but this rewrite sucked. I added 30,000 words to the manuscript and the revision would…not…end. But now it has, and it’s off to the UberAgent.

Generally, I enjoyed writing YA. Octavia, my heroine, is a strong character and I was able to do a few storytelling maneuvers that are generally frowned on in adult fiction. Plus, Victorian Fae! How could that not be awesome?

Say farewell to my neato word counter…until next time!
