Title: Misunderstanding Part 1
Pairing: YooSu (YoochunxJunsu)~Mention of YunJae (YunhoxJaejoong)
Writer: black_prophet (Midsummer_Slave)
Genre: Fluff, Drama/Angst, Randomness
Rating: PG (For Part 1)
Warning: Umm.. Bipolar boys, Yunho staring at Jaejoong, mention of Jae's supercute hiding-his-laugh habit, Junsu secretly wanting more, Yoochun being dense/kinda a chicken, randomly jealous Susu, shameless mentions of SoulMates and other assorted nonsense. Perhaps lovin' in later parts but only if you comment.
A/N: This fic is dedicated to my YooSu Girl
anja_yoochun because I owe her a YooSu ShoutOut!
Disclaimer: I totally saw this with my own eyes and then they invited me back to their apartment so I could handle the video camera so ha! THIS IS A FANFICTION. It is a work of Fiction starring real people that I sadly do not own in any way, shape, or form except for CDs, and DVDs and an impressive collection of pictures, which should count but doesn't. I totally get tired of admitting this... *SAD FACE*
Legend: Song lyrics are italic.
'Thoughts are italic in quotes.'
Junsu stood near Jaejoong, smiling as they playfully took turns mouthing the words to their songs and pretending to be various members of the band. Changmin stood nearby, watching their antics with an expression that bordered on condescending amusement. For all that he was the youngest; his expression clearly stated what he thought of their immature antics.
Though he couldn’t deny it was entertaining.
Just the sort of silliness that was bound to follow a good -though long- practice. Even Jaejoong was in fairly high spirits, the choreography mostly-memorized and flowing well. Junsu’s bright nature had succeeded in expressing the steps today, and he and Jaejoong continued to throw scraps of the choreography into their horse-play as they traded broad grins and laughter.
“You’re not setting a good example for the rest of us, SoulMate!” Yoochun laughed at them as he stooped to catch his water bottle, shaking his head as the three continued to playfully bicker.
“Like you would follow a good example anyway!” The oldest grinned. “You’re greasy, there’s nothing I can do to change that!”
“Oh that hurts!”
Leaning against one of the solid-wood walls of the studio, Yunho smiled at Jaejoong’s infectious laughter, loving the way his shy lover half-covered his mouth in an attempt to muffle the sound. It was endearing in this private setting, though on some level the leader wondered at the need for such a gesture.
Just habit, he supposed.
A new song started and Junsu’s eyes gleamed fiercely, his smile threatening to crack his face as he started to ‘sing’. In a moment his amused attitude became one of fierce concentration, and Jae playfully challenged him, spurring the other performer into a quick flutter of steps.
“Cute, aren’t they?” Yoochun murmured, attracting Yunho’s attention once more. “That must be why we keep them.”
With a final glance to Jaejoong who had fallen into step with his band-mate, Yunho turned to Yoochun and noticed his full attention showed no sign of wavering from Junsu. One brow arched in question, though his look went unnoticed as he watched Jae and Junsu dance.
“They are, but I’m pretty sure we have more reasons than just that.” Yunho teased lightly, glancing back to the pair in time to catch Jaejoong pulling Changmin into the impromptu dance and Junsu to look over at Yoochun as he sang.
Just looking at you makes me happy,
I want to feel you.
Just as quickly, Junsu glanced back to the pair at his side, blushing slightly as he broke the eye contact with Yoochun. Changmin, now rather invested in the venture, playfully emulated Jaejoong and ‘stole’ his lines, prompting a laugh and slight stumble from the older male as he continued to dance.
I wanna get me some of that
No, truthfully even I
I need to get me some of that
Yunho glanced to Yoochun, not surprised at all when he sang the next lines under his breath. They were his anyway, though Jae had taken over performing them as the three played around.
Do I not appear in front of you anymore?
Or do you just have no interest? No..
The leader frowned faintly, wondering at the bitterness that lurked in the deep color of Yoochun’s eyes. They had had a good practice, the band was doing well, no one was injured or sick… There was no reason for it, at least, not one that he could see. Particularly not with the way Junsu had acted, if only for that moment.
Were they fighting and he had just managed to miss it? The idea troubled him.
Junsu slung an arm around Jae’s neck and playfully cuddled up to him, singing along with Jae and Changmin as he joined in on the other side. The two younger men seemed to greatly enjoy Jaejoong’s ‘earnest’ style of singing as they stole his lines.
Even as you attract me,
Can you still not leave him?
BABE You don't need to
I want what I can't have,
The farther away it is the more I want it
Can't you see through my heart?
Just looking at you makes me happy,
I want to feel you
Yunho smiled as he turned away from the others, directing his attention to the somehow still-somber attitude of Yoochun. It wasn’t like him to act like this, under most circumstances they were all in high spirits after such a good practice.
“Are you alright?” Both a question from his Leader and his friend.
“Fine.” Yoochun murmured with a lift of one shoulder. “Just… thinking, you know?”
Yunho cocked an eyebrow and made a face that earned him a smile, for all that it was a brief one. “Cute.”
“Sorry, U-Know.” Yoochun’s smile widened slightly as he glanced away from the others -from Junsu- for a moment. “I didn’t mean to.”
“Right.” Yunho playfully grunted, expression still somewhat ‘annoyed’ as he slung an arm around the other male’s shoulders. “Whatever. You’re a terrible liar anyway. Are you and Junsu alright?”
Yoochun’s shoulders sank slightly and he leaned back against Yunho as though seeking some comfort in the other male’s proximity. “I… I don’t know.”
Privately he fought the urge to laugh bitterly as he listened to the lyrics. I want what I can't have, The further it is, the more I long for it, Can't you understand my heart? That about covered it.
“That sounds like a pretty honest answer.” Yunho murmured. “Do you want to elaborate, or are you just going to leave it at that and make me guess?”
Yoochun huffed a laugh and shot the others a quick glance, eyes raking over Junsu’s form. “I don’t even know how to start this conversation.”
“If you’re going to say you’re in love with him, you can save that.” Yunho muttered, eyes darkening as a fierce tone touched his voice. “And if you’re going to deny it you better save that too, because I’ll hit you for it. You’ve been in love with him from the start.”
“Thanks for blowing my secret wide open there Yunho.” Yoochun muttered dryly, though some of the tension in his shoulders relaxed. “Umm…”
“And so you reply with a sound that isn’t even a word and somehow asks sixteen different questions.” Yunho shook his head. “I think I’m around you guys too much, I’m starting to be able to read your mind.”
“That’s a scary thought.” The words were muttered, but amusement was just behind the mocking dark tone.
“Yah! I’m your leader, show some respect.”
False reverence filled Yoochun’s voice. “Sorry Leader-sshi.”
“Babo.” Yunho muttered with a playful slap to his arm. “Why do I even bother spending time with you? Let alone give you advice!”
“Are you going to answer some of my sixteen questions, then?” Yoochun ignored the question and even managed a half smile as he watched Changmin and Jaejoong play-wrestling with Junsu to keep him from dancing.
“From pretty early on, I guessed…” Yunho replied softly. “I didn’t know, I mean, none of us knew much about each other… Yeah, I knew you and Jae from Trainee days, but being thrown into a band and living together was different.”
“Very.” Yoochun agreed. “But I was glad to be in a band with you, we’d always gotten along as trainees.”
Yunho nodded, and then colored faintly. “And to be honest, though I guessed… I just… I didn’t give too much thought to it.”
“Too distracted by Jaejoong, even then.” Yoochun smirked, and Jae’s ringing laughter attracted their attention for a moment.
Junsu and Changmin were now teamed up against the eldest, playfully harassing and tickling him as he flailed and tried to escape. The occasional phrase was sung in time with the song, their mock-singing of each other’s lines and playful dancing attempts forgotten.
“Yes.” Yunho admitted softly, soft enough that Yoochun almost missed it as Jae and Junsu’s laughter echoed again and Changmin smirked in victory.
“I know.” Yoochun’s smile turned understanding. “He’s my SoulMate.”
Yunho nodded, expression going to his somewhat blank ‘public’ face for a moment. He licked his lips and sighed softly. “Yes… But he’s also my Soul.”
Yoochun tightened his arm around Yunho’s waist. “I know… And you’re his everything… I’m happy for you.”
“So… You and Junsu.” The leader murmured with a faint duck of his head, pink touching his cheeks.
“We’re dating… But…”
“But you’re in love with him.”
“Yes.”
“So tell him so.”
Yoochun licked his lips, voice threatening to break. “I’m scared.”
Yunho’s head jerked up slightly, and he eyed the other with concern. “Wha-? Scared? Yoochun why? It’s Su and-”
“It took awhile for him to come around to even agree to date me.” Yoochun muttered, his eyes dark and mouth pinched at the corners. “I’m afraid because of his religious beliefs that… That…”
Yunho noticed the other’s increasing distress and pulled him into a hug, making a soothing sound of understanding. “Alright, alright. Don’t melt down on me in front of everyone… Come on; let’s go outside real quick for this, yah?”
Yoochun nodded and pulled away from him, stepping past Yunho and moving out the doors quickly. Turning to follow, Yunho shot a final look at the trio, unsurprised when Jaejoong’s darkly knowing eyes met his. Whether he sensed something was wrong with his SoulMate or his lover, Jae obviously knew something was going on. And he worried.
There was a mute question as much as there was understanding. ’Yunnie?’
He gave a half-smile. ’It’s fine… Later.’
Jae nodded, glancing back to the others before sending him an air-kiss and a reassuring smile. Reassuring him with a wink, Yunho playfully shot him a knowing look and nodded, then left the room in search of Yoochun.
Yoochun sat on a bench outside, cigarette to his lips as he sharply inhaled the poisonous smoke. Watching the gray cloud curl lazily as it floated away from him, he sighed, feeling like the simple silver band in his pocket was practically burning him. ‘What are you doing, Park Yoochun?’ Too bad he didn’t have an answer for that question.
Hesitating in his approach, Yunho cast a glance up toward the sky in a reflexive look for Cassiopeia. He knew it was foolish, Seoul was too bright and the sky a mix of clouds and smoke from the city… There was no way for him to find it.
But he always looked, and promised himself they would travel to cities they could see it shining every night. ‘Someday soon…’
Shaking his thoughts off with a final affectionate smile to the clouds, Yunho turned left and made his way across the front of the building to one of the benches. Yoochun had selected the one nearest to the door, backed by carefully managed decorative shrubs and accompanied by a pedestal with an ashtray. He sat on one end, elbows braced on his knees, staring at nothing as one hand raised a cigarette to his lips.
Sitting on the bench, Yunho frowned faintly as he stared at the ground. When he spoke the words came suddenly, and he let them. “He loves you, Yoochun. You know he does, or he certainly wouldn’t even have considered ‘coming around’ or dating you. He has to love you, probably for as long as you’ve loved him. It probably just took him a little longer to work through that… It isn’t easy for us, you know. I’m sure you have an advantage after living in America.”
Yoochun laughed softly, a cloud of smoke escaping him as he tapped the glowing end of the cigarette over the provided tray of gravel next to the bench. “Yah, that’s not fair you keep bringing that up. I was young.”
“I know, I know.” Yunho smiled faintly and waved it off. “You know what I mean, though. And don’t act like you don’t.”
“I know.” Yoochun nodded, straightening and leaning back against the bench, arms stretching along the back as he threw his head back and stared at the cloudy sky. “I bought him a ring.”
Yunho couldn’t control the urge to fling his head up to stare at the other, eyes wide in the half-darkness of the night. “A ring.”
Yoochun smiled faintly. “It’s our custom, isn’t it?”
“So that’s what this has been about. You having second thoughts about giving it to him or not?”
“Whether he’d want it or not… Whether he would wear it or not.” Yoochun sighed, shaking his head. “Yeah, more or less. But lately he seems, like he’s upset… More distant, so, I don’t know…”
“Yoochun…” Yunho muttered as the front door of the studio opened and the other three came pouring out of the building in a stream of light and laughter. “You’re an idiot sometimes, you know that?”
Yoochun smiled. “Your way of telling me I should give it to him, I take it.”
“Aish, babo!” Yunho muttered, playfully jumping to his feet and punching the other male in the arm lightly. “I’m not talking to you anymore.”
Watching his leader walk toward the rest of the band, Yoochun took a final drag on his cigarette and then stubbed it out. Exhaling that last breath of smoke that ended on a sigh, he stood slowly, nervously brushing his hands over his jeans. When he looked up, he noticed that Yunho had slung an arm around Jae and obviously said something to Junsu, for the young man was half-way between the group and Yoochun.
And getting closer.
Yoochun slid his hands into his pockets and smiled faintly as the dolphin stopped in front of him. That smile faded as he noted Junsu’s fierce look. “What?”
“Yunho said you’re stupid and he doesn’t want to be around you right now.” Junsu sounded suspicious. “I’ve been sentenced to your company.”
“Sorry?” He shot the other performer one of his more shy-endearing smiles. “Forgive me?”
“I’m not mad about that.” Junsu huffed.
“So you are mad at me then.” Yoochun’s shoulders wilted.
Junsu sucked his bottom lip into his mouth, worrying at it mercilessly with his teeth as he noted Yoochun’s crestfallen expression. The other man shifted, giving him a look that clearly spoke of waiting for Junsu to explain. For whatever reason, that questioning look annoyed him, washing away the concern and replacing it with anger as he met Yoochun’s eyes.
“Yes.” He replied sharply.

"Misunderstanding Part 2:"So yeah... I meant to write a SongFic for "Get Me Some" but it just wasn't working. So I cut most of the song out, left in the relevant verses/ snippets, and here we are. This may wind up as a double or triple shot, I'm not sure. I have about a third of a page started for Part 2, but I'm gonna go shower. Tell me you love me/ prove it in comments, ok? Critique etc is well-loved and needed. More postings when I get out of the shower, I hope!
