Did you checkmark the box that says 'Entry is backdated' when you did your 'friends only' entry? If you didn't, that makes it all wiggy (even though it doesn't make sense, because 2015 is certainly not 'backdated').

That must be why the journal kept insisting I had a fatal error and making me backdate everything.

The only problems with backdating are when you post an LJ entry that is dated earlier than the current date and time, I think. I never have problems with my postdated entries. Hm. It's been a while since I last postdated anything, and I don't think I have backdated anything.
