I haven't. Yet.

Two days into the new year and it's already looking better than the last one. That's vaguely reassuring.

Of course, we have a dog now, so things could always be better.

Be honest: Who's broken their New Year's resolutions already?

new year, things are mostly looking up, mangy mutt

...Have we met?

If I killed someone you know, I promise it wasn't personal.

The name of that fool is irrelevant.

In any case, he suggested that perhaps you might be one of the few who... share my beliefs, and are willing and interested in seeking enlightenment.

It's shorter, and therefore relevant.

Oh? I very much doubt that, if you got it from him. What are your beliefs?

I am an intelligent man, which is why I recognize that everything you claim is entirely rational and correct. What's your point?

Of course not. I used to, but now that I don't, I'm generally much happier.

Just because it's stupid doesn't mean it's necessarily awful.

Fool! You know not what you write.

How could you know happiness when you returned to the path of ignorance and self-torment?! It must mean you have never attained enlightened at all. To think I foolishly took you, for one moment, to be wiser than those of your kind whom I have spoken with...

Listen, let me help you before you get ahead of yourself: Sometimes you have to be unhappy in order to feel happiness. If you really believe all that nonsense about enlightenment through the abolishment of suffering, you've never actually been happy.

That's nice, but human beings have an incredible drive to get what they want, which almost always includes happiness and almost never includes what you're proposing, so I doubt you're going to get anywhere.

No matter how many millions of you populate this earth, there WILL be those who have the strength of will to change for the better.

Do not worry... I have as much time at my disposal as I need.
