15 Entourage icons [spoilers for 5.12]

Nov 29, 2008 03:32

In lieu of sleep, Nano, Yuletide, or anything I'm meant to be doing, I'm fixating on Entourage 5.12. Mostly the way that I loved bits of it and bits of it made me really inappropriately angry. Possibly going to see Sweeney Todd today has made me a little vengeance-happy? Also, I want to write an Entourage AU, and as a fandom, it stubbornly resists ( Read more... )

Last fFebruary I organized the first Entourage ficathon and while it was small, it produced a considerable word count. The community is http://community.livejournal.com/entourage_fest/ and if you want to organize an AU ficathon, you can use the existing community as a platform. Let me know and I'll help(any time after this upcoming week - finals) and give you moderated status so you can do your thing. Keep me posted.

Thank you for the offer, I'll have to think about that :)
I'm more worried about the potential turnout. The West Wing one was pretty small, and accordingly tricky to match up, and I think Entourage would be even smaller again. Possibly. I guess maybe I should do a poll or something. Did you find the pairings hard to match when you did it, or were there a lot of flexible people?

I just really want to read some AUs! (With West Wing, it was also kind of broader, because we extended it to crossovers, and canon-breaks as well as full AUs. Entourage has a bit more luck with those, so I suppose maybe I need to think about that as well.) Just something with a long deadline, because right now I think a lot of us are Yuletide-ing!

To be honest, one only had two people ask for non-E/V pairings and I gave them to each other(neither produced though so it was moot). I mean, it depends on how you want to set it up. I would wait until after yuletide before you set anything off though.

Now, see, that is the nice thing about having a very definite fandom OTP ;) West Wing was a pain in the neck to match pairings and all the can't-writes.

Oh, I think what I meant to ask first was: were you going to run another ficathon on the comm, because I wouldn't want to step on toes, especially with dates. I guess post-Yuletide, with long writing time, but before new season? *shrugs* It's all very flexible, I have no major commitments...

No, i havent yet. I was planning to do it in February. Last time we did a fic exchange, but this time I was thinking of doing a general prompt ficathon(where I put up general prompts submitted by participants and people sign up that way). But you do whatever you like because this is in no way a hard and fast plan

Hmmm, you know if you were doing that, I could just submit a bunch of AU prompts and hope that worked. Rather than overlap, and risk people not being willing to sign-up for two things. And I realise now that I sound like I'm trying to get out of the organisational headache, which isn't my intention! I mean, if you wanted assistance, like I say, I have nothing major on. I just find a half-filled masterlist very depressing....

well in ANY ficathon you have to expect that at least a 4th will drop out or not fulfill their obligation. We had 12 participants(including me). 7 submitted their work. 5 Didn't...so about 40% didnt do what was asked of them. I dont know, maybe with a prompt challenge it will be better. I dont know. We've got some new faces. Who knows? And if nothing else, you can throw up a list of AU prompts on entourage_fest and people can give them a look at their leisure...

i posted something about this on the_guesthouse, but i didn't know you two had already been discussing it! ooops. but i think it's a fab idea. and i don't participate in yuletide stuff (I've never written fic for LJ) but anytime we do this thing would be fine with me. i just think it'd be awesome, and i would definitely write for it.
the general prompt sounds best IMO. one question- can people who plan to write also submit prompts? i know nothing. i'm sorry.

but all-in-all i think it'd be a good thing and i think it'd have moderate turnout especially if we allowed het and advertised on _entourage. maybe. again, i know nothing.

i mean, with two experienced ficathon organizers and one ridiculously eager entourage slash lover, what could go wrong? :]

*g* I wouldn't exactly call me experienced! I have done match-ups before, and modded, but experienced is pushing it... I'm just a girl who really wants more AU fic, dancinbutterfly's the one with the comm! Not that I wouldn't be willing to help in any capacity necessary if it meant more fic. *lovesonAUs*

Oh, and yes, generally speaking everybody prompts, and then anyone (including prompters) snag one to write. Sometimes you can't take your own, but it depends on the rules at the time. smallfandomfest for example, lets you take your own.
