Meme stolen from
helen_c, way back before finals. LJ went weird, and I saved it instead of finishing it. So then tonight I was bored. Yeah... Expect more posts like this :) If it helps, it's also a picspam! (So NOT DIAL-UP FRIENDLY)
Possible spoilers for West Wing S1-2, Firefly, Angel, Buffy S1-6, Ugly Betty, Greys's Anatomy S2, Lost S1, Friday Night Lights Ep1, SG1 and SGA, Supernatural, NewWho S1, Veronica Mars S1, Wonderfalls, ER, X-Files, Battlestar Galactica. Nothing for anything aired in the past two months, so far as I know.
Five things...
…that made you fall in love with a show
1. Firefly:
"and we shall call it 'this land'."
- Yes, this is the second scene of the pilot.
2. The West Wing - The Midterms:
"The President's science advisors is telling us that psychics at Cal Tech... You know what? I'm pretty sure that was supposed to be physicists."
- And this is the first episode I saw.
3. Friday Night Lights - Pilot:
"Here's to God, and football, and ten years from now, Street, good friends living large in Texas. Texas forever!"
- Achy-heart in retrospect, but these are my boys, totally more in love with each other than either of their girlfriends.
4. Supernatural - Pilot:
- I wasn’t totally sure whether I was going to tune back in, and then this happened, and I was alone in my bedroom with only the lamp, and I jumped out of my skin.
5. Grey's Anatomy - The First Cut is the Deepest:
"Who here feels like they have no idea what they're doing? I mean are we supposed to learning something because I don't feel like I'm learing anything. // Except how not to sleep. // You know, it's like there's a wall. The attendings and the residents are over there being surgeons, and we're over here being... // Suturing, code-running lab-delivering penis minders. // I hate being an intern."
- Write me an intern orgy and I will love you forever.
…that made you fall in love with a character
1. Doctor Who - Rose: The Doctor
"Run!"
2. Buffy - Intervention: Spike
"'Cause Buffy ... the other, not so pleasant Buffy ... anything happened to Dawn, it'd destroy her. I couldn't live, her bein' in that much pain. Let Glory kill me first. Nearly bloody did."
- I was only really watching Buffy from mid-S5, so this is less weird than it looks
3. Veronica Mars - The Wrath of Con: Logan
- I think I was more inclined to like Logan than I should have been, because I knew of the show fannishly before I was watching, but that little smile before he realises he shouldn't be smiling at her...
4. Torchwood - End of Days: Owen
- Owen is my boy, but this was the full-on, 'yeah, okay, so I'm gonna have to defend you against the rest of the world' moment.
5. LOST - Pilot: Sawyer
- So, sometimes I like the smart, sensitive guys, and sometimes I like the snarky ones who get sweaty and bloody killing polar bears. I can be complicated. Also, I want someone to call me Freckles, in a drawl. Or something that makes sense, perhaps.
…that made you bawl your eyes out
1. Angel - Hole in the World:
“Why can’t I stay?”
2. Wonderfalls - Caged Bird:
"I let him go. I had to let him go, but I didn't wanna let him go. I wanted to keep this one. Why can't I have nice things?"
3. ER - On the Beach:
- I was never a serious ER watcher, but I watched with my mum, and I liked Mark and Carter and Weaver. All of Mark's exit upset me, but I cried through almost all of this episode
4. Grey's Anatomy - Losing my religion:
- *g* Find me a Grey's fan who wasn't torn into itty bitty pieces watching this?
5. Ugly Betty - Don't Ask, Don't Tell:
- I'm cheating now, because I ran out of TV that's made me cry. But "open your eyes, Mom, and look at your own swishy son... I may never be this brave again... I am not confused! // If this is the life you've chosen, I have no interest in knowing the real you" :(
…that once made you laugh (or that are still making you laugh now)
1. West Wing - Celestial Navigation:
"bweifing". Hee!
2. Stargate Atlantis - The Hive:
"You have fought the Wraith before? // Lots of times. Won some battles; lost some. War's not over by a long shot, but we're managing to hold our own. // And the clowns? // 'The clowns'? Oh, yeah, the clowns. We fight them too - entire armies, spilling out of Volkswagons. We do our best to fight them off, but they keep sending 'em in!"
3. X-Files - Squeeze:
"Is there any way I can get it off my fingers quickly, without betraying my cool exterior?"
4. Stargate SG-1 - 200:
"The singularity is about to explode? // Yes // Everything about that statement is wrong."
5.Veronica Mars - Clash of the Tritons:
"Hi, Dad. [beat] Their case is fuzzy and circumstantial. // You know the odd thing? Those were also her very first words."
…that broke your heart
1. Supernatural - Children Shouldn't Play With Dead Things:
- Dean....
2. The West Wing - Somebody's Going to Emergency, Somebody's Going to Jail:
"This country is an idea, and one that's lit the world for two centuries and treason against that idea is not just a crime against the living! This ground holds the graves of people who died for it, who gave what Lincoln called the last full measure of devotion. Of fidelity. You understand the last full measure of devotion to... Treason against them is... "
3. Veronica Mars - Ruskie Business:
- It's not just Logan, it's the way Veronica isn't at all used to comforting people, and the tentative way she reaches around to hold him up, as he just falls apart.
4. Battlestar Galactica - Kobol’s Last Gleaming Part 2:
- Second Daddy-Son tragedy on the list. Do I have issues?
5. Sports Night - The Head Coach, Dinner and the Morning Mail:
- I really love Jeremy.
...that you'll never forget, no matter how long you live
1. Battlestar Galactica - Exodus:
- The Adama Maneuver. Coolest space-ship drop ever. She falls like an avenging angel, spitting vipers. Which is why the Galactica is on my list.
2. Angel - Not Fade Away:
3. Buffy - The Gift:
4. The West Wing - Two Cathedrals:
"You feckless thug."
5. Doctor Who - Bad Wolf:
"'Cause this is what I'm gonna do - I'm gonna rescue her! I'm gonna save Rose Tyler from the middle of the Dalek fleet, and then I'm gonna save the Earth, and then - just to finish you off - I'm gonna wipe every last stinking Dalek out of the sky! // But you have no weapons, no defences, no plan! // Yeah, and doesn't that scare you to death? Rose? // Yes, Doctor? // I'm coming to get you."
Five lines that made you think, for whatever reason
1. Angel - Epiphany:
"If there's no great glorious end to all this, if nothing we do matters... then all that matters is what we do. 'Cause that's all there is. What we do. Now. Today. I fought for so long, for redemption, for a reward, and finally just to beat the other guy, but I never got it… I wanna help because people shouldn't suffer as they do. Because, if there isn't any bigger meaning, then the smallest act of kindness is the greatest thing in the world. "
- This is my life motto, pretty much. My problem with religion as it has always been preached to me, and my argument that atheism is capable of being just as loving as theism.
2. Grey’s Anatomy - Yesterday:
"I've heard that it's possible to grow up - I've just never met anyone who's actually done it. Without parents to defy, we break the rules we make for ourselves. We throw tantrums when things don't go our way, we whisper secrets with our best friends in the dark, we look for comfort where we can find it, and we hope - against all logic, against all experience. Like children, we never give up hope."
- Is it wrong that I like Meredith? Actually right up until she finishes this monologue and engages in the stupidest one-night stand ever..
3. Battlestar Galactica - Lay Down Your Burdens 2:
"What do you want to do now, Captain? // The same thing we always do... fight 'em 'til we can't."
4. Firefly - The Message:
"When you can't run, you crawl, and when you can't crawl... when you can't do that... // You find someone to carry you."
5. The West Wing - The Short List:
"It's not just about abortion, it's about the next 20 years. Twenties and Thirties it was the role of government, Fifties and Sixties it was civil rights. The next two decades it's gonna be privacy. I'm talking about the Internet. I'm talking about cell phones. I'm talking about health records and who's gay and who's not. And moreover, in a country born on the right to be free, what could be more fundamental than that?"
five little things that ever made you glad you have a TV
1. Buffy:
- Joss Whedon in general, but Buffy in particular, and the fact that the musical episode exists.
2. Stargate:
*kawhoosh*
3. Angel - Smile Time
4. X-Files
- Mulder's poster
5.
- At no point did I claim to be balanced, objective, or not crazy.
*G* That was fun.
