Sports Night Drabbles (late)
Challenge was to use one of the seven virtues.
Faith: noun 1 complete trust or confidence. 2 strong belief in a religion. 3 a system of religious belief. - (Casey&Dan, PG)
‘We’re destined for better things, Case.’
‘Do these better things include cold beer?’ Casey asked hopefully.
‘You really think warm beer is our main problem?’
‘I’m saying fixing that problem couldn’t hurt.’
‘I choose to think a little bigger. I’m thinking you, me, television, nationwide.’
‘Danny, you do understand that right now we’re print journalists? Print journalists so low down the food chain that the Statten Island Bugle gets in ahead of us? Where they get the cold beer.’
‘I see the future, Case.’
‘You’re clairvoyant now?’
‘I see the future,’ he repeated. ‘Know what I see?’
‘Better things?’
‘Better things.’

Prudence: adjective acting with or showing care and thought for the future. - (Natalie/Jeremy, PG)
‘What do you think of her?’ Natalie asked, nodding towards the female tennis player on the screen.
‘I think she’s got a good serve but a weak backhand,’ Jeremy replied.
‘Don’t play coy with me.’
‘I’m not playing coy, Natalie, I’m not even playing stupid. I genuinely have no idea what it is that we’re talking about.’
‘She’s a good-looking girl, Jeremy.’
‘She is,’ he responded cautiously.
‘So you admit it?’
‘Admit what?’
‘That you think she’s good-looking.’
‘I think she’s good-looking, Natalie, I just don’t think she’s as good-looking as you. Also, I never liked blondes anyway.
‘Good boy.’

Charity: • noun (pl. charities) 1 an organization set up to help those in need. 2 the voluntary giving of money or other help to those in need. 3 help or money given in this way. 4 tolerance in judging others. - (Dana and Dan/Casey, PG-13)
‘Dana, you’re being ridiculous.’
‘Casey, you’re being oblivious. Go over there and tell him.’
‘He’s my best friend, Dana.’
‘You’re in love with him, and also you’re an idiot. Get your ass over there before I kick it that way.’
‘You really…?’
‘Think that he’s in love with you back? Don’t mind that you’ve effectively been leading me on from the moment we met? Yes and No. Get over there.’
He went. Just like that, she gave Dan Rydell the man she’d been in love with for most of her adult life. It wasn’t as hard as she had expected.
