Well my trip to Tampa went well, i drove straight through last Wednesday and arrived early Thanksgiving Day morning at 5am. I caught a quick cat nap and then headed out to dinner with my brothers new wife and her family. They both live in Manhattan now where she attends NYU. Her younger sister did all the cooking, she's going to culinary school next year at NYU to become a french pastry chef.
I then headed directly over to Nicci and Sadi's house for some much needed catching up and festivities. The next night was great, we all met up at Masquerade and sang some drunken karaoke and then headed on down to Czar for some more shots and dancing. Sloane you did a fabulous job as usual babydoll! I then went on back to their house and rested up for my early trip back to NC the next afternoon. The ride was long and boring. Driving extra long because of all the travelers from the holiday weekend and whatnot.
Only to be alerted two days later that my grandmother had died Tuesday morning. I was no doubt devestated and have had some difficulty sleeping and getting over the initial guilt i felt for visiting Florida when i could have spent the last weekend with her. Even though everyone has told me that i would have not known when this tragedy was going to happen, i still feel there was more i could have done.
The only solice I find is that I was able to move up here to be close to her the last 7 months of her life. She fought a long, hard battle with Parkinsons and Altzheimers over the last several years. She was and always will be an inspiration for me now and in the future.
And to think i was on my way to Chicago when something unexplained stopped me and directed me here to NC. Now when i do make my snowy decent to Chicago next year I can hold my head high with the satisfaction and knowlege that i did exactly what i was supposed to do.....Be a grandaughter.
