Okay, so I suppose life is going to be back to normal now after a crazzzy (almost) two-weeks. Got back from the airport and just now caught up on reading my flist. Sooo, yes.
Okay, so, started out badly actually. Because at about 8 AM on the 27th I totally ended up in Miami International Airport when I should have been in Fort Lauderdale. Buuut, then I made it. So it was all good. On my first time ever in a New York subway, I ended up giving a few dollars to a guy who was singing Under The Boardwalk.
But then I checked into the hostel, and got a bunch of strange smirky looks from the lady who worked at the front desk. She continued to disturb me all week.
That's our ghetto room, actually, that was the last day we were there which is why our shit is all over the place. (Okay, I'll admit it, we threw our stuff all over the floor all week.)
Anyhow, I dumped my stuff and caught the bus to LGA to wait for
lblikesbagels, whose flight was delayed. But I found her, so it was all good.
That would be as close to a real picture that I could get of her. >.> She's alarmingly shy for such a pretty and awesome person. Anyway, that was taken in a funny little pizza place that closed while we were still sitting there talking. We had to shout and run out and get apologized to by a scary flamboyant spanish boy.
Buuut, as I was saying. After getting her from the airport and dumping her stuff in the room, we wandered around on Broadway Street. Naturally, we had to buy bagels, being in New York and having the scary bagel associations we've had for years... I ended up giving mine to a homeless guy, but it was all good. I think I spent at least 20 dollars worth of change because I haven't yet learned to say no when people ask me for money.
Over the week, we went to Staten Island twice (probably just to ride the ferry), saw Brokeback Mountain, an IMAX Harry Potter (Cedric's gayness made even more blatant on the giiiant screen!), The Producers (which was ridiculously funny to me), and this random movie called The White Countess or something.. (I'm still not sure what happened, I was probably more entertained by the creepy old man a few seats away molesting his lunch box), we went to Times Square, half walked through Central Park, went to Soho and East Village to be entertained by little gay boys, searched for (and failed to find) a DDR machine, went to a restaurant called Carmine's, (just because of the name and despite how expensive it was) annnnd... basically tooled around, as Abbee's dad put it. Oh, and we found the ME building from CSI.
ME building.
And then Abbee had to hump it because it was actually the one from CSI. I was way entertained.
So on New Years, we were total dorks and watched the ball drop on TV a few blocks away from Times Square rather than actually going. It was snowing, man. And I think it was my aunt who left a message on my phone, which wasn't working in New York, so belated Happy New Years, Gerrie, if my dad didn't tell you.
Random picture that I thought was sort of neat. Steam from a tunnel thingie, and little snowflakes.
Random thing on Roosevelt Island that I don't entirely understand.
And just cause everyone takes his picture.
Okaaaay, and that's it for New York.
So I dragged her to Miami for a few days, and we basically watched movies the whole time. I don't think I can list them all, but I'll try for the hell of it. Alexander, Shattered Glass, Trainspotting, The United States of Leland, Big Fish, Star Wars II and III, Star Wars Holiday Special, Life As A House, Velvet Goldmine, Weird Documentary on Transexuals (no, not the title), Music From Another Room... umm, that's all I can remember. Ohhh, yes, and I totally love her for actually sitting through the entire Jesus Christ Superstar with me, despite my not being able to stop rambling about it and bitching at the characters.
Besides that, though, we went to Wilton Manors with Kate. Got coffee in a scary gay cafe, where all the men gave us thoroughly frightened looks... Then we met Simon at the Fetish Factory, survived his traumatic (to me, anyway) driving and got to Sawgrass where we played DDR for a bit. Then we went to Kate's and hung out until my stepdad came. I fell asleep through CSI at 9 something. x.x But on a good note, Kate and Simon both adored Abbee and her amsing accent.
The only other thing we did besides stalk Target and chat at Shelby (who said 'shag' which still entertains me), was take the bus to a random beach and walk around forever. We traumatized my little brother by trying to define "scandal". Then we stalked the bookstore, and I got Last of The Jedi #2, and The Secrets of The Jedi.
Speaking of, The Secrets of The Jedi is totally the most entertaining thing I've read in awhile. There's something about Obi-Wan checking out ANY woman that is just beyond hysterical... not even to mention the total bulldyke that is Siri. I haven't gotten to the end with the Padme scandal and all that, but I'm already depressed at how it will be lacking Ferus whose stupid self left the Jedi before all that. But I'm totally reading it for all the Obi-Wan/Siri action, yo. Because it's bound to be hilarious.
On a semi-random note, I love Obi-Wan and his constantly wanting to bitchslap/"punish for personal pleasure" Anakin throughout the entire Rogue Planet novel.
And Anakin saying "my love" to Padme in III is quite entertaining as well.
That's all. >.>
