Ozzy's College Entry Essay

Dec 17, 2005 19:03

Ozzy paid me $5 to write his college entry essay. Here it is. Hope you all enjoy it. Ozzy is a fat son-of-a-bitch (no offense), and loves to eat like it's his frickin job, so maybe you will catch the subtle humor in the essay now that you know that.

An influence is defined as a power affecting a person without any direct or apparent effort, and although I have yet to tell her, my aunt has affected my life more than she will ever know. Since I was learning to crawl my aunt has been there to teach the right and wrongs of life; teaching me the rewards of completing my homework on time. Because I never knew my biological parents, my aunt took me in and has been like a mother to me. She basically took care of herself as a child and had to make adult decisions starting at age 12, which is one of the major reasons that I admire her strength and perserverence. She worked from the bottom up; starting with nothing and working long days and even longer nights to become the successful business woman she is. Because of all her hard work, my siblings and I are able to live comfortably; eating more than your basic bread and water. I have seen the results of her hard work and it has taught me that if I want to get anywhere in life I must work hard myself. My entire life she has stressed the importance of doing well in school in order to accomplish what she never did, but I took her words lightly in my middle school era. I mistakingly misunderstood her words as nagging, which I now understand that her words were more caring than anything else. After my freshman year, my aunt’s words sunk in and I started to turn myself around. I pulled myself out of the academic slump I was in and even got involved with school clubs and sports, such as wrestling. As I excel through my senior year in high school and plan my future years in college, I am realizing how much my aunt really means to me. She is very proud of what I have accomplished so far, but knows I have the potential to go even farther; may her dreams be my dreams. I may be leaving her side soon, but, with everything she has taught me, I will return to her with an accomplished grin on my face. No matter what else happens throughout the rest of my life, the influence my aunt has had on my outlook on life will forever be the food on my plate; my core. I’ve listened to her “war” stories time and time again; stories of her rough childhood and the lessons that she learned. I figure that if I can learn those lessons early in life I can become the successful man she dreams of having as a nephew; as a son.
