Geneva Portraits (Eng).

Поскольку мы готовим новое путешествие, новый пост дублирует старый Женевский, но уже на английском.

October 18, accompanied Production.fotohaus I was in Geneva for the shooting of the "Portraits of Geneva."

In general, it hardly can be called a serious or a commercial project - we were shooting bystanders for fun.
This is a short stories about four days spent in Switzerland and about the people who live and work there. We communicated with various characters - alpine farmers and scientists from CERN, students and retirees, business owners and bartenders.
This is a story about how your persistence and sociability gives an opportunity in a foreign country meet with interesting people and strike up a conversation with them as if you have long been familiar. As faith in what you're doing everything right, gives you amazing coincidence.

In the picture - Manuela Cattani, general secretary of the trade union of workers of Geneva. She has a great voice. Feeling that we photographed Edith Piaf. She was in a hurry somewhere, but nevertheless listened and said, "Yes, it's fun - let's do it." We shot her next to the Cathedral of St. Peter in the alleys of the old city. The first one we were able to persuade. It gives us confidence.

Bjon. We caught up with him near the city administration Geneva. He lives up to its name - on good narcissistic, he liked what he was asked to pose. I am pleased to distributed business cards, where the company's name stood his name. Vice president of EFG Private Bank in Geneva

Remi - served as head of a department in the administration of Geneva. While we were shooting Byon, it is not without irony, looked at his watch. Was pliable and slightly screwy. Tried to smile, and he is quite happened, then waved his hand all thanked and said that he is waiting for the photos.

(Actually, this is all said who we photographed.)

M. Pascual. Oh, those French talkative. When we photographed and Bjon and Remi, then met Camille, who strongly in a hurry, but invited us to his bar, which we later took advantage. While talking with Camille (it will be on the next photo), M. Pascual came from a nearby art gallery. He said "Hello!". Agreed to do it, saying that it was not his art gallery, but this is his bar. AU RA UBU - was opened in the 14th century, and since then has never been nor anything else except drinking bar. M. Pascual said that in Geneva, only 40% of the indigenous population. At this point, was Remy. Just one of those 40% of the "natives."

Kamil. Extraordinary charisma barman is unlikely him in the evenings visitors leave sober and accidents. Himself from Paris and very pleased that lives in Geneva. He's a bit in a hurry because he had to work, but posed as much as needed. And made us drink ... coffee. While we were filming Kamil past was also Bjon. And we realized that the Geneva - not so big city :)

Finally came another "native", which, in fact, and introduced himself. But in view of the ease and age, he refused to be photographed, pointing to a sign on the family house opposite and advised to pay attention to the letter I in the name of a famous actor Michael Simon Geneva last century. Points over I was not, and the letter itself was a penis. He explained this form that the actor was very fond of women.

Alu. Caseworker. Torn shoes, old clothes - classic student. But quite a happy, by type, young man. Agreed to be photographed on the tramways. We are constantly looking around, as trams run frequently and quiet.

And they are free for tourists - hotels give out special coupons for all modes of transport. Then we rented a car and drove along the lake. Lost and got to the women farmers who grow apples Kazakhstan.

Suzanne. We saw how she was feeding bees - to prepare them for the winter. Told her about us, about shooting. She agreed, saying that she still here 6 people in the fields, we also wish to be able to take a picture. Then he told me that he would go for the next year in Kazakhstan, to his son, who works there. And that almost all apples imported from there. We went to look for other participants in the shooting, but they were all at work and we have decided that it is sufficient Portrait of Suzanne. After giving us a bunch of apples, which were incredibly delicious, we went to stray further pre-admired tractor with the opposite wheel. And caught one of the most significant characters in this series - 80-year-old grandfather, strolling across the lawn on a background of snowy mountains.

Rene Boel - we met him in the most expensive city in Lake Geneva, Montreux, next to the old castle, where he was walking in the park with his young wife and talked to some guys. On the bench were glasses in their hands - champagne. This is the usual Swiss pensioner. All my life I worked just as he said, a manager in the office. Possible, of course, that he was selling castles and apartments for EUR 10 million, but most likely it's true. Ordinary. Swiss. Retired.

Madame Poyet from Vevey. The owner of a chocolate boutique where tastings. Great Charisma lady. We conducted the workshops, said the purchase of grain and fry in other countries, but the technology of producing chocolate only they know. And they have the exclusive right to sell edible shoes of Charlie Chaplin. We, of course, gave a pair of those. Next we went to the Chillon Castle 12th century, where they met a couple who climbed to swim in Lake Geneva.

A crowd of tourists around the castle led us to believe that everything will not because I wanted to - not very comfortable shooting the prospect of the castle, a lot of souvenir stalls and rain. All this has forced us to go down to the lake, the pier. Great view! But anyone. Not just tourists there, and no one at all. Decided to go back up to the tourists. But the prospect that someone will go with two adults strange men somewhere in the thicket, down to the edge of a deserted, was illusory. And then they came - Patrick and Patricia - young people from Germany. Quickly undressed and climbed into the lake to bathe. It was then that we realized that we will not get another chance.

They got out of the frozen lake, but, nevertheless, agreed to act as models.

After shooting, near the water and the castle we went back to Geneva and then went to the lake, where many yachts moored. Walking along the pier, we realized that there is nothing to do. Nice, but not photogenic. Come on, closer to the boats, where we found the point of view and feed the swans. We caught a couple in the same red jacket. Henry and Agnes. He - PhD in psychology. Yes, that's the sound of his office. And there's a PhD in physics. And PhD in medicine. This is what we learned when we were at CERN, in the same where you created the Large Hadron Collider. But, back to the shooting. Couple very good, said that introduced us to their friends, the Swiss photographer. And she - just his wife. Then we realized that in order to complete the picture, we do not have a pretty young girl and went to look for her.

Imen. I must say that in Switzerland not enough beautiful girls. Very Much. A lot of smoke, a lot of eating at McDonald's (the effects are clear?). One said that he was late to the movies with a friend, the second said it was Sunday and therefore (!) It is not made up and will not be photographed. After 10 minutes, torment and reflection to take or not to take that kind of an old lady bomzhevatogo came student names, with her boyfriend. We explained that we wanted, told about the project and started shooting.

One time we were almost hit by a bus, a couple stopped the car to take a look at what we do. But it seems to have finished without incident.

Nikolai Ivanovich. The man who impressed us the most. He is a scientist, physicist, 23 years working at CERN. One of the founders of the project Atlas at the Large Hadron Collider and one of the "hunters" on the Higgs boson. He and a group of scientists from Dubna worked to create the largest detector to collect information after the collision of protons - 44 meters in length and 25 meters in diameter. Nikolai Ivanovich took us to CERN, scientists showed how they live, how they work, what they say.

Be in a place where the key creation of the universe - this is some extraordinary adventure. He introduced us to Connie - organizer and curator of all the events taking place at CERN.

Connie Potter. We found her in the office, where she worked - Nikolai Ivanovich asked her to help us with photos. We managed for a while a little on the table, something shifted, something fell. But it seems did not break anything.

The most motivating dude. Oh yeah. We were back in the middle of nowhere, but came to a business center on Monday. And there is none. Whether the center has not yet started work, whether everything is working. But the people were not there. We thought that here we are stuck for a long time, and it is time for dinner and a plane. We just came up, just thought it would be a long time and then he - Fabrizio. No other chance. Asked how much we need the time and said that yes, 5 minutes he has. We have begun to lay the equipment to get cameras. And then a voice: "You've got three minutes." Oh. My. God. Collected light for a minute, a minute it was photographed and released. It was the fastest shooting and one of the most effective.
That's it). Wait for the next series of portraits!
