I haven't posted at all about our vacation, in part because I was suffering a bit of trauma at the thought that we may have lost well over half of our photo files, thanks to our camera deciding that the SD card was empty and needed to be formatted.
That trauma is mild compared to the other: we got back to a war-zone like home. My father had been doing construction while we were gone and the house was a wreck. Add to that the lovely news that our upstairs neighbors have a bed bug infestation and we had an all out cleaning/spraying war on our hands. I am horrified to say that I found a bug in our room. No sign of anything in Rocketboy's room or any other room in the house, thank everything. We're still not done with the process of washing EVERYTHING we own in hot water, but our mattress has been encased, the walls and moldings have been scrubbed and sprayed, the rugns and upholstery hve been steam cleaned, and we are on a two week mission to make sure nothing gets infested in our house. We are not calling in the exterminators, mostly because I don't want nasty pesticides around me and my unborn child and I don't want to drop $1300 on poison, but we did find a safe, natural spray that can be used around me that kills the little suckers. Unfortunately it doesn't do anything to the eggs so every morning we strip the bed and spray. Then at night we spray again and make the bed with freshly laundered sheets. It's a pain, but fresh clean sheets every night is a good feeling. After a couple of weeks of this we should have completely stopped the life cycle of the little cretins.
On the bright, happy side, thanks to PhotoRecovery software, or images are on the way to being restored to us and I can begin to process the images as well as what happened during out time in Scotland.
More to come once mountains of laundry are done and photos lovingly processed.
