I'm saving "Houston, we have a problem" for when I have a miserable failure at making something related to the space program. This was more along the line of a horticultural mishap.
What I tried to make:
What I actually made:
Oops.
There appears to have been some serious drift to the right. Why did the motor think it was in the right place? Either the stepper motor was having conniptions (unlikely) or, as this was my first attempt at doing a two-color print, I screwed something up (highly likely) or those errors I was getting when the computer was generating the makerbot code with the note "This should never happen, please inspect the code before printing" caused these issues (even highly likelier).
You'll note that the black leaves are missing entirely, and it looks like part of the black base is missing. I think the black base stopped printing as soon as the white part of the flower started printing. that's also when things started drifting a considerable amount. I'm going to chalk this up to complete inexperience, and I'll see what I can come up with later.
The end view isn't nearly as bad, and confirms that it was only getting funky in one direction:
As it happens, the view from above isn't too bad.
I think I'll try this again when I know what the heck I'm doing a little bit better.
