A "fun" fact is "Martin Luther King, Jr. was a huge Elvis fan." I wouldn't let the fact that she played the "but I'm black!" card get to you, stupid is color blind.

That's the thing. Nobody's perfect. We don't have the recent lens of history to look back at everything.

As a fictional pioneer once said "Don't try to be a great man; just be a man and let history make its own judgments."

How could facts about his early life, even if boring, be racially insensitive? I mean, unless it said something like, "Famous [racial slur] MLK was born on..."

I phrased it to her as insensitive to his legacy and memory.

Look on the bright side, Brian. Your story is so awkward and horrible it made me laugh my ass off. Even though I almost dropped my coffee in the apoplectic seizure that was my laughter, I didn't. And that can be no small thing.
