Today's the kind of day you want to listen to Fiona Apple, so instead you blast "Bodyrock" instead, playing it as loud as your vehicle's sound system will allow.
I'm in the process of making sure all the songs on my hard drive are rated in iTunes. Why? Because it's an achievable goal.
Last night was Styx with Mahanic, Mahanic's amiga Amanda, Kulik, Gretchen, Ashleigh Wisser, Jesse (Gretchen's cowboy), and Tom? How was it?
Fan-Fucking-Tastic
I don't think I can possibly explain how great it was to see Styx at an outdoor concert in Taylor. The band sounded great (despite sound board and PA issues), and the crowd was almost as entertaining as Styx. Kulik is right to say that they sound like a poppy version of Rush, and I feel the need to mention it because he brought it up about ten times during the show.
Still, they played all their songs that I know, a great cover of "I Am The Walrus," and a few new songs that didn't suck. They closed their set with "Come Sail Away" and got a huge sing-a-long going with the crowd. Just great. Totally worth the five bucks.
Unfortunately, I had raging indigestion from the Wheat & Rye burger I'd eaten earlier that day, so my ride back to the house was spent asleep and trying to hold back the urge to vomit. Yeah, you needed to know that.
Well, here it comes.

The space bar on my keyboard isn't broken...it just won't come back up. It still registers spaces [for now], but it's not behaving properly. It'll be a sad day when I need to buy an external keyboard for my laptop.
Saw The Godfather at the Michigan Theater with Mahanic today. Next week is Godfather Part II, if anybody else is also interested, and on July 31st they're showing The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly, which should be an amazing treat.
Simple fact is, it's just better to watch movies in a quality theater. The actual film print of The Godfather does look different (Nick pointed out that for tv the print is artificially brightened, and it desaturates the colors some). Seeing that print was like watching the movie for the first time in a lot of ways. Some of the colors just popped more. And all kinds of wonderful details made themselves apparent to me on this viewing. I love when that happens: finding something new in something old.
Band practice now. Must go. Unfortunately, this may cause me to miss the new Family Guy and American Dad.
If that were the least of my problems, I'd be skipping down the streets. ::shrug::
