I do more than portraits, but portraits are pretty much my favorite thing to photograph. Studio, on location, fashion, emotive, whatever, I love doing them. Speaking of studios, that brings me to the two photos I have for you today!
I don't have my own studio space, so my apartment is pretty much my makeshift workshop. I have large, picture-frame windows, with ample amounts of natural light (my favorite!) on most days. Set up a backdrop, open the blinds, mount camera on tripod, and shoot away. At least, that's the plan for most days. Today a snow storm tore through this part of the state, bringing ample amounts of gloominess and clouds. So my shoot today was lacking the proper amount of light. Not wanting to rig a flash, I decided to just work with what I had. The problem was, I had to use a longer shutter speed, and because even the best models can't always be statue still, there was some blur. To compensate and use a little lower shutter speed, I used a high ISO. A ridiculously high ISO.
So today's photos have a little more grain than I like.
. . . Can I just call it lo-fi? . . . Kidding.
I planned another shoot for tommorrow, and the weather's looking good!
