What $80 can do for your sleep*

I'm amazed, almost shocked, at how much a simple foam matress liner (actually two) can help with sleep. I love staying at Randi's (I consider it 'home' now I'm there so much) but her bed had a few springs that stuck me at night. We'd been talking about adding padding for quite some time and last night we finally did something about it.

I'd gotten home just in time to see everyone who'd come to hangout for the evening go home. Having spent nine hours alone in a room I was in no mood to just sit around, so we decided to wander the 24 hour Walmart. Once there we picked up a couple things I needed and then went through the isles making fun of some of the products and chatting about life. We hit the bedding section and remembered the idea of a pillow-top for the bed.

Well the stuff they had was no better than the blanket we'd been using to add some padding. That is until we go to the memory foam section. There they had a pretty good selection of sizes and thicknesses (except it seems for queen, which is what we needed). Finally we settled on a 1&1/2" memory foam layer ($60) with a 1" foam base ($20).

We got home and I made the bed while Randi showered. All I can say is, "very nice". It was so comfortable and soothing. No rough springs or stiffness. I slept pretty well and didn't roll around too much; which for me is a good night. I hope it has the added bonus of helping Randi sleep better and heal her back some.

All in all, if you're uncomfortable in your bed don't look at a new matress for a few hundred (or much much more). Instead just spend less than $100 on a couple foam pads and you'll have a super comfy bed.

*This is (amazingly enough) NOT a paid endorsement for Walmart or any of their products.
