I cried a little bit reading Harper's eulogy, I can't lie. It...moved me, so thank you for writing such a beautiful and emotionally honest passage. And for a character we didn't even really get to know much about until well into this series! That is a feat.
I was so excited to see a new chapter was out today, and I can't believe that this is almost over. I'm sure it's a huge accomplishment for you, completing such a sprawling character piece and bringing this universe you've created to a conclusion, just as for me it has been an important part of my personal fandom experience. This was one of the very first QAF fics I started to read after I'd discovered the show and watched all the episodes nearly 5 years ago--5 years, I can't believe it!--and it's weird to think of this series as "Complete" and not "WIP".
A few bullets:
--Bringing in AC was great, and I love the biting humor you colored that whole scene with. Just great. I'd imagine it's tricky trying to write a real living person.
--Amelia just being Amelia. She is cute and awesome.
--All of the other OCs, Zeke being Zeke, Gabe getting some action in the restaurant office, this exchange between Jonathan and Daniel: When Daniel reappeared at Sam’s studio, you were happy to see him, but something was clearly amiss. The dark gray sadness that had nested beneath his eyes all week was gone, evaporated. You had to know why…and how…he made that so stuck feeling disappear. He didn’t hesitate to give you an answer, “I just blew Zeek’s little brother.”
You felt faint.
And completely out-shrinked.
--Of course, Justin and Harper and everyone going to their old studio to paint a mural with Allan's ashes mixed in the paint. That was a lovely beat.
I hope we don't have to wait long for the next chapter, but for quality writing and great characters like this, I'll wait however long it takes because results are always a treat.
Thanks so much for this feedback. It IS tricky to write a real person into a piece of fiction, but writing AC and his feud with Brian makes me laugh through the whole thing.
The next chapter is mostly written... I truly hope it won't be that long.
