On with the answers.
Your knitting/crocheting habits & desires
1. Do you knit, crochet, or do both? I knit but can't purl :) I crochet a lot. Love to dye fiber, try to spin on a drop spindle. I want to try needle felting.
2. How long have you been knitting & how did you learn? Would you consider your skill level to be beginner, intermediate or advanced? I learned how to crochet as a young child but picked it up heavily when I was 21, I've been hooked every since. I learned how to knit from Stitch N Bitch but never taken the time to purl, hoping to do so one day tho. I would say close to advanced on crochet and beginner on knitting.
3. What are your favorite yarns or fibers to knit with? What yarns/fibers do you avoid, dislike or hate? Are you allergic to any fibers? I love wool because I love to felt in the washer. I would love to try some lama or camel fibers, something soft but not novelty, not allergic to anything.
4. What do you use to store your needles/hooks? How about your other tools, like stitch holders and point protectors? Where do you store your yarn? Ihave a crochet hook holder but my knitting needles are just in a plastic drawer.
5. Do you prefer straight or circular needles? Do you have a needle preference-bamboo, aluminum, plastic, etc.? Any needles you’d like to try? I would love to try circular needles, I don't have any bamboo so that would be nice to try as well. I have aluminum hooks and a mix of plastic and aluminum needles.
6. Do you own a ball winder and/or swift? Would you prefer to receive center-pull balls of yarn, if the person that has you owns a winder/swift and is so inclined? I don't own either, I don't mind yarn in any way :)
7. Are you a sock knitter? Do you want to learn? I've never made socks but it would be neat to try if there was a easy pattern.
8. What is/are your favorite item/s to knit? I can knit scarves and bags, I crochet mostly bags and hats.
9. What are you knitting right now? Any current obsessions like socks, lace, felting, etc.? Currently making two bags to felt and a slew of hats for my partners at work. I've been buying up mohair yarn in hopes of making beautiful scarves that I haven't started yet.
10. Any books, yarns, needles or patterns out there you are dying to get your hands on? Are there any new techniques you'd like to learn? What have you always wanted to try knitting/crocheting? The little Vouge crochet scarves book has been on my wishlist, or a used copy of SNB, I have always wanted to crochet a thread skirt or something very open.
11. How old is your oldest UFO (UnFinished Object)? I would guess a year or so.
12. Do you have any knitting magazine subscriptions? Any that you love or buy regularly? I usually buy Knit 1 if there are any crochet patterns in it. Interweave Crochet is usually the only crochet magazine I buy. I have no subscriptions tho.
13. Do you like to receive handmade gifts? absolutley
14. Would you like to receive hand knitted socks? If so, what are your foot measurements? (Don’t give just your shoe size-measure around the ball of your foot and also the length from heel to toe.) Of course, giving this information is no guarantee that you will actually receive knitted socks. It’s just in case. I would love hand knitted socks, I think if my partner wants to go to that trouble I will measure what ever they need.
Non-knitting stuff
1. Do you have an Amazon or other online wish list? Include a link. Nope but I will make a small one and post it in my journal.
2. What's your favorite scent? (for candles, bath products, etc.) Any you can’t stand? I'm loving the crazy carmel corn from Bath and Body works, I can't stand super floral scents such as Gardenia, but love jasmine.
3. Do you have a sweet tooth? Favorite candy or snacks? Anything you would hate to get? I love the cinnamon apple chips from Cracker Barrell, other than that I would say beef jerky, fruit rollups, and nuts.
4. What kind of music do you like? Can your computer/stereo play MP3s? (in case your buddy wants to make you a CD) I like a lot of girl music :) I love trying new stuff, anything but country western music. Yes I can play MP3 discs. I have a big music intrests list on my lj info page.
5. What is your favorite holiday? Christmas hands down without a doubt, I love fall and winter the most :)
6. Do you have a favorite animated character, animal, etc.? I like spongebob, tinkerbell, pooh, and faries of any kind
7. Are you into any fandoms? (Harry Potter, Buffy, etc.) Kurt Halsey (does that count) Angel, Firefly, and Dead Like Me
8. How do you decorate your room/house? Is there anything that you collect? I collect Kurt Halsey stuff for my walls, faires, Willow Tree figurines, I think that is it.
9. What's your favorite color(s)? Any colors you just can't stand? Is there a specific color family/palette that you enjoy knitting with or wearing? I love blues and greens, fall colors, no neons tho.
10. Would you like and use icons, layouts, banners or wallpapers? Anything specific? Icons are love :) Yarn, knitting, or crochet icons would be great
Other information about you
1. What other crafts or Do-It-Yourself things do you like to do? Do you spin? Dye yarn? Are you looking to try any of these, and which ones? I try to spin on a drop spindle but haven't had too much luck, I love to dye yarn but haven't ever tried the Jaquard(sp) dyes, Would love to start needle felting.
2. What is your family/living situation? Do you have any pets? I have no pets.
3. Do you wear scarves, hats, mittens/gloves, slippers or ponchos? I wear scarves, hats, gloves, would love slippers, and shawls but not ponchos.
