As lame as it sounds, I never really understand what the part about Seams was, but now that I've read this, I finally have some sort of clue!! Thanks! :)It no longer sounds quite so bad to 'sandpaper' them down ( that always sounded so horrible to me for some reason ^_^' ), and I think I'm a little more ready for it now. Also, I hope you get the part about piercings and tattoos up soon, ^_^ ( I'd love to help, but alas, I think I would be more a burden than anything xD )since that is something I'm really interested about!

I added a brief summary of piercing and tattooing for you, even though I don't have the time right now for a full demo. I will fix it and add pics later. Hopefully this is enough to give you an idea of how to do it. ;)

Thank you! The info on the tattoos was really interesting. I plan on creating my own designs for my boys, but I'm curious about the sealers, does that make the tattoos permanent, or will I still have to be careful around it? ( Just wondering since they will be on one's lower back and the other's lower tummy which I imagined are places that are touched frequently when handling )And thanks also about the piercings. I didn't think of using glue for a piercing on the lip, but now I'm interested so I look forward to pics when you have the time. :) I was hoping to connect a piercing from the lip to the ear of one boy with a small chain so I'm looking around to see how that might best be done. ^_^

I'd glue it personally, with some white craft glue like elmer's. IT won't harm the doll and isn't permanent. Nothing that you have to seal is "permanent" without maintenance. What I mean is, if you need to seal it, (like dye or a tattoo) then you need to keep sealant on it all the time or it will wear off eventually.

Oh, I see, so continually sealing it after periods of time will keep it from wearing away, wheras if I only sealed it once and never did so again it would rub off relatively quickly? And just simple Elmer's Glue, hm? That's good to know. ^_^ Thanks!

Yes, and yes! :)

The oils in your hands break down the sealant over time, as well as simple friction, so sealant eventually goes away, and you need to reapply. :)

How often would you need to re-seal to keep something on permanently (ie a tattoo)?

It really depends on how often you play with your doll and where the tattoo is. Obviously a tattoo on the arm is going to wear off slower than one on the bum, for example. Usually you can see the sealant is shipping or shiny. Ideally, re-apply before that. It's different for every doll.
