The Unsolved Case of the Haunted Bathroom

Oct 29, 2009 15:47

It was a dark, eerie night. I had just gotten home from a 7 hour work shift and climbed haggardly up the stairs to my room. Subrina was quietly working on her homework when I came in. We exchanged pleasantries as I gathered my pajamas and opened the door to the bathroom-- or tried to, for the door was... locked!

"How could this be!?" Exclaimed Subrina.

"I never even closed the door, let alone locked it!"

"Aye, you cannot lock the door from the outside anyhow, and it unlocks automatically when you open it to leave. How perplexing!" I rubbed my chin thoughtfully.

"I am chilled to the very bone with fear!" Subrina cried.

"Worry not, roommate. Surely the door is just jammed." The both of us pounded on the door, then put our full weight against the thing yet it still did not budge.

"Ghosts! Our room is haunted!" Whimpered Subrina, hurrying downstairs to alert our fellow housemates. She returned a few minutes later to watch me pick the door lock with a paper clip to no avail.

"I have not the time for this." Said I, throwing down the paper clip in frustration.

"I'm going downstairs to drink beer and eat pizza." After the dinner was eaten and a bad episode of "The Twilight Zone" was watched, Subrina again hastened downstairs.

"It is unlocked! The door is now unlocked!"

"Miguel!" One housemate hooted, and we all fell about the place laughing and joking about our made-up ghost friend from good times long ago. Yet despite all our silly banter, I slept with the lights on that night.
