I am learning German via Rosetta Stone.
Why? Because I want to go to Switzerland someday. But you don't need to know that.
I'm winning Rosetta Stone so far, I'm on world 1 level 1 stage 9, but I've run into a problem as I've just reached the part that describes woman's clothing.
I can figure it out alright, but I'm learning words for types of clothing I already didn't know what to call in English.
For example, I never really knew what a blouse was, only that it was a shirt or maybe something else.
It doesn't make matters easier that German has different words for shirt when a woman is wearing it versus a man.
I know what a kleid is, but I don't know what those are called in English. I didn't even know they had a name. All-body-shirt-with-skirt-bottom? I realize now how much of a blockhead I'd sound like if I ever had to describe one of those, but still, I never have before.
EDIT:
Rosetta Stone just referred to some women's clothing as (woman's) shirts, even though that's what they called a blouse earlier.
I KNEW IT!
Blouse doesn't mean anything.
Dear women,
Your crazy plots to trick me have failed again.
Sincerely,
Der Womanslayer
(Roughly translated "Stephen R" from German)
