I went to alumni campfire. Seymour was exactly as I remembered, but with extra buildings, and new chairs, and the wee lil kids were towering over me; but the social dynamic at any rate hadn't changed. The campfire was actually super-swell. I was obnoxious, but it was fun. We sang happy birthday to Don as a tweener. Yuri ate dog saliva... hardcore dog saliva. We just about turned a slow song into a rousing march and/or drinking song. All in all, it was good.
The after party was not so much. There was some reminiscing, I met the sister of the camper that got burned that week I worked with Bubbles. Oh what a week, with the drama, and the bees, and that poor burn victim. It was good though. Another person remembered the shrine to me, and the chant, and told the story of it. Wedge and I tried to talk and it all came out wrong and stilted. I kinda isolated myself and kept everyone else away. There was some of that superficial too-loud racous laughter. Magill was really nice.
Heather was there. I'm so frightened of her it's ridiculous. She was one of the first people I saw, one of the only people that gave me a hug, and the only one that claimed to be looking forward to talking to me. Of course I avoided her, and pulled the super weaksauce move of leaving without saying goodbye. I already sent an e-mail saying I shouldn't've done that. She still looks so beautiful, and being around her still makes me feel so inadequate.
Today at Owen's Beach I was sitting and writing a letter when this random girl came up to me. She offered to help with my letter and I gave her a sheet of paper and my pen. She said I should write "your(sic) dead sexy!!" Naturally I pointed out the mistake in that sentence. We talked for a while. She ended by asking how I was planning on ending the letter and I asked for suggestions. She responded by giving me her name and number and asking what I thought about that. I responded with my name and number which she took with her. She was drunk. I don't mean that in a self-debasing sort of way, she actually was drunk. More than likely I won't be calling her.
I e-mailed Kim A today and invited her to lunch. We'll see. She probably won't respond.
Being at the beach in the middle of the day on a nice sunny day like today was really nice. As was driving past the Rose Garden while the flowers there were in bloom, you could smell them on the road. And after the after party is the hotel lobby.
