I swear to god, I haven't written anything non dimensions in like...years. The last thing I wrote that was actually from my own head and not a spin off/fanfic was....oh God in Grade 9 when I wrote that thing for Shae...hmmm....
World and Setting: Story takes place in the year 2013. The world is much more technologically advanced, however, it's not all flying cars and pill meals. The world is in the midst of a crisis, focussing heavily on the very much hurried cleaning of the planet. The Global Warming scare has thrown everyone into a panic after a massive melting of the polar ice caps raised the sea level causing Tegua; an island in the Torres Islands of Vanautu to sink below sea level and causing almost the entire population to be lost in a cataclysmic series of tidal waves, completely submerging the island below water. This event, of course, has caused several religious reprocussions, in the form of more vehemant debates than ever before, a greater number of people demanding metaphysical answers, and a greater demand for spiritual satisfaction. An absense of said answers has lead to a record breaking shattering of faith, and a greater spike in the belief that technology can and does hold all of the answers.
Concept: The story revolves around the workings of the Gods of Old, and their collective dealings with the planet Earth. All Gods, since the beginning of time, both have existed and do exist, working as an organization in attempts to keep the world at peace with itself, and to stop it from falling into chaos. The world is runned by two forces, both of which are necessary to the function of the universe, but both which are at odds. Faith is the force from which the Gods draw their power, and it is strengthened by both humanity's ability to rely on them and believe in them, and the number and strength of the individual Gods themseleves. Knowledge is the power of Evolution, which is the power of Mankind. It is strengthened by the miracles which man produces without the aid of the Gods, and their growing independancy from the Gods. These forces are not to be confused with the actual states of mind, a these are merely energies set up to represent these states. The Gods observe the Earth and it's events and are feeling the weakness in The Faith, and feeling their own powers deminishing. Their only explanation, one of them has broken the first law and has blatantly caused an act for the direct purpose of destroying Faith. The recent expulsion of one of the two first Gods, Angra Manyu, has lead them to believe that it was he who caused the destruction of that island, and, in turn, the deterioration of The Faith as well. The only true solution to this is to plead to the secondary source of The Faith, the individual power and personal strength of the Gods themselves. As such, the Gods have decided to enlist new Gods to their ranks, ones who's connection to The Faith would be fresh, and their view of the world recent and able to adapt well to current situations. And so it is that youths from all around the world have had abilities awaken within them, and must soon accept their destiny as Gods and perform the duties of the Gods of old; the defense of the Earth and the protection and maintanance of the balance of Faith and Knowledge.
I haven't drawn up characters yet, but if you have any ideas or comments on how to either make it better or characters, please throw them up.
