So apparently I am now an expert in the Wells Fargo Home Mortgage 3-Step Express, Rate/Term, and Cash-Out mortgages. We had one day of shadowing/listening to phone conversations, and two days of training. When we got back to our cubes yesterday (well, actually we each have a corner of giant cubes), we each had a computer of our very own, in addition to a phone box thing with lots of buttons and a headset. I understand loans/mortgages a lot better now, and was even able to follow the math, but I still don't feel ready to deal with customers on the phone yet. Thankfully we'll be listening in on calls a little more on Monday. Wells Fargo itself seems great, and my bosses are all really cool. The buildings where I'll work are huge and house at least 1000 Wells Fargo Home Mortgage people on phones, in addition to their managers and higher level staff. There's also 2 cafeterias and a gym.
Corina took me out to dinner on Wednesday night, ostensibly as a late birthday present but also as a congrats-first-day-of-job thing. She was able to explain in two sentences what my boss couldn't explain in 10 minutes. Thankfully the guy who trained us Thursday and Friday had no illusions about our mortgage background (none). I was in training with about 13 other people. For some reason I expected them to all be my age but I was actually one of the youngest people in the bunch.
On Thursday I checked out the Salvation Army near my place and some guy tried to pick me up at the bus stop and lied and said I was taken. Sigh awkward. My roommate Cassie also told me that I would have my room by Saturday because she kicked her sister out. She was unable to pay the bills on time, and is going to move in with her dad early. Yay for me!
On Friday I was in a really really good mood after I got off work at 4. I went to this amazing discount store on 35th and Nicollet and got a zebra stripe pencil dress, a shiny fake denim mini skirt, flip flops, and tank tops for cheap. Must stop spending. But it was so cheap! Later I went roller skating with Kat in St. Louis Park. She is really serious about trying out for roller derby next year after coming to her first bout last weekend. Since then, she's quit smoking and joined a gym. I'm so excited! I taught her a few different stops and some general skating tips, and by the end of the night she was doing so well! I'm so proud. Sniffle. Reminds me of me last year! But my blister thing on my foot from skating last Friday has not healed well and still really hurts (especially since I've had to cover it with a giant band-aid all day when I'm at work. And then I did the same and exercised on the foot.... ew sweaty). I'm hoping it heals soon so I can skate again in my own skates. Skating Friday was a big mistake... owww.
Today I've been waiting around for Denise to call/Facebook me, but I guess it's not going to happen at this point. In the meantime, I moved into and washed (literally) my room (!!!) and hung out with my roommates and their friends. I also went to the Ace Hardware on Nicollet and got paint color sample card things, flower seeds (wildflowers and poppies), fertilizer, and an ice cream bar. I brought all my clothes upstairs too and made my matressbed (there's a bed frame downstairs that I'm going to use). Sigh, it feels so nice to have personal space again.
My dad and maybe his fiance Kristi are driving my stuff up from Iowa tomorrow. I'm so glad we'll be able to bring it all up to my room instead of putting it in the basement or something. My house is kind of dirty and smells like cigarette smoke, so I hope Dad doesn't say anything. It's cheap and I like my roommates. A good place to start.
And I think my right foot is bigger than my left.
And Mandela, thanks again for the Christmas/birthday icon present! Woo!
