I finally realized -- as a budding writer and job seeker -- I need to have a laptop. One cannot write a book if one cannot work on it every day (and since I think best when I type, as opposed to write longhand, having a portable keyboard is just How It Needs To Be); and one cannot find and apply for jobs when one is on a dial-up connection (not without going insane, anyway).
A laptop will allow me to write no matter where I go or what I do; I can drag a laptop to a local Barnes and Noble on weekends or weekday evenings and use their fast connection to apply for jobs without tearing my hair out. It will just make my life easier, more productive, and _better_ -- and it's time to do this.
All I want a laptop for is word processing (particularly Word), going online, and watching movies (it MUST have a CD/DVD player-burner). Dell has been recommended to me, and this particular laptop is awesomely priced and appears to do all these things (well, I'll have to buy Word separately, but that's just par for the course).
So, how 'bout it, Technology-Minded Pals? What say you? Shall I go back to Best Buy tomorrow and give this one a whirl?
