This weekend, after thinking about it for a while, I changed my focus for school. My original plan was to go for a history degree with a diversion to get a travel agent certificate. After a year and a half of math, with the probablility of another 4 classes.. (I had to start at the bottom rung of the mathematical ladder) I was just not looking forward to get into that again. I have been going to school going on 3 years.. and I've only taken 2 classes that actually pertained to my major. Feh.. Going on that path, I'd be in school for the rest of my life.
So I decided, I really want to get back on the track and have a tourism career. So I am dropping the history degree all together, and just going for a Travel & Tourism management degree. This would not only give me the ability to be a travel agent, but the management skills to run my own agency, or website, whichever I decide to do.
and since I have taken so much math already.. I only need 1 more class!!! So.. I am going to skip next quarter, as planned.. talk to the career counselors and get things ready to start.. then the following quarter, I will take that math class and then I can be on my way to the rest of the degree.. and the best part is, I will actually feel like I am accomplishing something.
And I am strongly considering doing the Walt Disney World College Program in a couple years, to get some experience in and learn more about how Disney deals with the travel & tourism business. Plus it will be good on a resume. I think that will be the best way to get started on my career change. :-)
And did I mention only ONE MORE MATH CLASS!!!! :-)
ETA: only bad thing about this is, this really has nothing to do with my job, so I may lose them paying for it. :-( Will talk to my boss about it, but if we lose the company paying for it.. we can do it. Begrudgingly.. but we can do it. :-)
