Saturday night was another evening with Cavalcade of Lights. The band this time was Faber Drive. Again, I had no idea who they were, but I recognized their songs! And they were the sweetest guys! Young, great on stage, talented, and absolutely appreciative of everything! I had a different stage manager and assistant this time, and they had apparently worked together a lot, so I was a bit of the third wheel it seemed, but I did my job and everything went well. Part of my job, was to stay with the band until they left, which was easy enough the prior weekend, since State of Shock had a quick autograph session after the concert and then went to their hotel. Ahem. Faber Drive...more of a teeny bopper fanbase...a LOT more fans. I ended up taking charge of the autograph session, organizing more security and then escorting the band back to the Green Room and then their hotel. Personally. Wow. Teenage girls are a persistant lot! They pretty much stormed City Hall just before the autograph session, and none of the security guards were doing anything. So, I just started herding all the girls back out, at which point security joined me and helped me do so. *insert rolly eyes here* We got the band out to the signing tent, and I think that the two or three hundred fans lined up for autographs was something that we hadn't planned on. So, I told the band that our security was only on the clock until 9, and if they wanted to get through the line by then, they'd have to just do autographs, no posed photos. And that was that. I ran up and down the line a number of times reiterating this to the fans, much to their dismay, but hey...I had to do what I had to do. Finally, with much prodding and pushing from myself and security, by 9 we were down to maybe 50 or 60 fans. I got the okay to keep a few security guards overtime and twenty minutes later it was all done. We hustled the band back to the Green Room, and they were so happy with how things went! They took photos with the security guards, signed autographs, and I got a free CD! :) Then, Julian and I took them to the hotel via the PATH (so as to avoid the fangirls still waiting outside), right to their rooms. At which point we both got hugged and thanked again. Huzzah! Success! And the best part for me, was the Julian (head cheese!) saw that I had stayed to do all of that while the SM and ASM went home. Natasha (show manager) witnessed it as well, and she "gave me a gold star"! :)
After that was all done, I made my way to Lynne's place, and spent a good couple of hours with my niece! This time she was awake, and squirmy, and even cuter! And she's getting bigger! I can't wait until she can fit into the teeny tiny Maple Leafs jersey I bought her. :D
Sunday, Mike and I FINALLY put up the Christmas tree! We went to dinner at Matt and Janet's first, saw Scott and Kristen and baby Abigail, and then headed home early. Tree went up, decorations went up, lights went up (on the tree and the balconies outside) and VOILA! Christmas, YAY! It makes me feel a little better about this year's holidays. With the exception of last year, Mike and I have always spent Christmas apart. More at my insistence than anything else. It just always becomes the most logical decision. Mike's family gathers in Fullarton for two or three nights, and I always go to midnight Mass with my family, plus Christmas lunch. So, to make it easy, just spend Christmas with our respective families! I never mind. Last year, Mike's dad insisted that I be with them at Christmas, so we tried to do both families. It was like Thanksgiving all over again (we always try to split Thanksgiving, and that's always a clusterf*** because his family ALWAYS spends Thanksgiving up at the cottage...and we always go there first...and end up missing Thanksgiving dinner with my family...ALWAYS...), and we missed out on my family Christmas. Sigh. Anyway, I'm not sure how this Christmas is going to go. We're doing Christmas Eve and Christmas day with my family, then heading down to Stratford and spending Christmas evening and Boxing Day with his. Fingers crossed I don't kill myself. :P
Yesterday, I was supposed to meet with Jason for lunch to go over sound cues for GAS, but J cancelled on me due to work. Ended up meeting him after work for twenty minutes, and rescheduling lunch for today. Then came home, and gave in to Mike's begging that we get HD TV. Merry Christmas Mike.
Today, cancelled GAS rehearsal AND lunch with J. We were both too tired. And...just got a phone call from Nina. Oops. Forgot about the Q-Q meeting with her and Aaron for The Making of St. Jerome. BUT! So did she! :) So, we're meeting in two hours instead.
And that, my friends, has caught you all up to today. Whew!
