Thing that make me go GRRRRR…
So, went to see CHICAGO last night. Was great, and didn’t even occur to me that a Backstreet Boy was playing Billy Flynn. However, what DID piss me off, is that no one has any respect for theatre anymore!!! Firstly, I DESPISE the fact that people wear any old crap to the theatre. They wear JEANS and FLIP FLOPS and RATTY shorts, and TANK TOPS and HOODIES, grubby SNEAKERS and MINI SKIRTS. WHO the HELL taught them to go to the theatre? Worse? It’s become accepted now to bring your skateboard with you, like some dude did when I saw Wicked last week. GAH! I WISH the theatre, the POW, the Royal Alex, the Pantages, etc., would bring a dress code into effect. If you have to wear ties and jackets to certain restaurants, if night clubs can have a dress code that states no jeans or you don’t get in, if schools can enforce a uniform, and if going to work means business formal, why the hell can’t a theatre say what their audience must wear??? I think the audience should have to wear formal or semi-formal or business casual attire. None of this casual, “I’m sitting in my living room” shit. Because you’re not. You’re at a SHOW. It’s one thing to wear jeans to the Factory Theatre, it’s another to wear jeans to the Princess Of Wales Theatre. Bloody hell, in the words of Momma Morton and Velma Kelly - “Whatever happened to class?”
And, I don’t pay $150 for tickets just to hear some idiot a few seats down sing along OUTLOUD to the songs in the musical! Save it for the shower, because this is NOT karaoke!!! I even shushed a few times, and they just kept right on singing. Ruined the whole second act for me. I swear, I was going to throw them over the balcony!
I'm so outraged over it, I'm going to write a letter! To those frickin' Mirvishes!
AND! To top it all off, they sold out of souvenir programs!!! WTF?!?!? What about the rest of the run? And if they had more in the back, why didn't they damn well go get some!? I was ready to give them my money...didn't they want it!? Those capitalist asshats!
