last night I had an evening of telephone conversations and niceness rather than chores and sensibleness. Along the way I've sorted my bank holiday adventure.... I am going larping at the Gathering - I have friends who have been with the raggers for years and known me since I was a student - ones an ex-house mate - so despite knowing
a nothing about mages/hitters/points/spells/what on earth is likely to happen and
b - nothing about using weapons, what to wear what is expected of me
I am looking forward to this since I have complete faith that my old housemate would never put me in a situation that I'd be unhappy with. they have clothing which I can wear (apparently ) and so all will be well. I'd ask for an idiots guide but given the amount of time between now and the weekend to read it if anyone has "larping in 15 mins reading " that's about as much as I can absorb.
The weekend just gone was rather splendid - I met new people and re-met old friends and had my ego massaged loads. I tripped onto a dance floor and have the most impressive knee bruises but that's not big or clever, so shouldn't tell you about that.
AND I met the mythical Mel and discovered that she is real! - not Mavis's imaginary friend in coventry. She was at a wedding I went to and the usefulness of unusual names was the means by which we discovered the link ("I work in warwick but do have friends from leeds, really randomly like my friend Mavis..."). So 6 degrees of separation (but no Kevin bacon) strikes again. I don't think I said anything I shouldn't have done to her...
Today I have had my "faith in the medical profession restoration project" progressed by having another constructive conversation with a GP. I also made him laugh, which is generally a good indicator of a person having some humanity left in my view. I hopefully will never have to find out whether or not he actually puts what I asked on my record, since I've no intention of letting the crazy track in my head rebuild itself and then run wild again, but I believe I may have said something to many of you to that effect in March 2008, so I thought it was best to keep the appointment and ask him to make the appropriate notes.
