It wasn't seeing Jenny that was the issue. On the contrary, seeing Jenny was probably the only thing he was actually excited about. If anyone else has asked him to meet them at a giant shopping mall he would automatically responded with a resounding "no" and immediately run off in the opposite direction. However, as she was his daughter, and he had already seen her die in his arms once, if she wanted to go to a shopping mall, then he would be there in a second.
Or rather, ten seconds, as the TARDIS had apparently decided to take him to 1585 Tokyo instead. He hit the side of the console and re-set the coordinates.
It was only a shopping mall.
And he was there.

With a squeal of joy, she ran towards her father. He showed up! Late, maybe, but he was there like he promised!
"Dad!"

Luckily, the face that did greet him was neither a 50% off ad or an aggressive cosmetic saleswoman. This face was far more pleasant, far more excited, and in definite need of a hug. He grinned.
"Hello Jenny."
