It's freezing! And there are hundreds of people out there right now in our city without warm homes to retreat to. Homeless Shelters are doing their best to help homeless Portlanders to obtain the basic necessities of survival this Winter, but their resources are limited.
You can help!
Got a mummy bag that's been sitting in your closet for 3 years now? A wool hat you haven't worn since the day your grandma gave it to you? Someone needs it now!
Make a thorough search through your closet/basement/attic for any items that could help get someone through the cold season, and bring what you find by one of the shelters around town.
*Portland Rescue Mission: 111 W. Burnside, 13207 NE Halsey, or participating Bi-Marts.
*New Avenues for Youth: 1220 SW Columbia and 314 SW 9th Ave
(if you're not near one of these just do a google search for homeless shelter donations)
Most needed: Socks!, hats, gloves, underwear, sleeping bags, tarps/emergency shelters, raingear, etc.
