If you live in the Northern or Western DC suburbs, you may get a late frost this evening and any of your tender plants outdoors may be at risk.
If you have potted plants you may want to try putting plastic grocery bags over the top if you're not inclined to bring them indoors.
For Plot8, I am taking a risk by not covering my tomatoes and peppers. The local hardware store was closed by the time I got there (was going to buy plastic sheeting), so will have to risk that Vienna escapes the below-freezing temperatures. (this is me, breathing deeply and practicing zen non-attachment to all my beautiful heirloom varieties and kicking myself for not making the row covers I intended to make last week - and then going back to the zen thing.)
My farmer grandpa used to keep a rabbit's foot in his pocket. Now I know why.
