Gym Shorts - superheroes

The spider seems to have wandered off - meaning no dose of morning OMGSPIDER!!! adrenaline, but that's okay. I hope Charlotte is alright and just has moved onto better hunting grounds.

Had to work late last night and there's a push of a Friday deadline to contend with at work, so the impulse to blow off the gym this morning and get an early start was certainly there, but there's more benefit to exercise than just calorie burning. I think its become a necessary part of my stress management toolbox, and hey: sure I could go in an hour early, but if I'm wound up and frazzled, I'm probably not doing myself or my co-workers any good. Now I've lifted weights and taken a nice brisk walk and my head is clear and I'm centered, so go me- 65 minutes, right on target.

This morning was a lot of core work of varying sorts - I think i did every ab exercise I know and then got on the back extension machine and did reps until I couldn't do them in good form anymore. I also decreased the weight on the assisted chin ups and dip machine (thereby making it harder), so someday, maybe I'll be able to do both of those movements without any weight assistance at all, and that would be accomplishing a goal too. so yay.

Jim Bama was not there this morning although I looked for him. I realized that I see a superhero in him too. We could form a League of Righteous (and Hawt) Justice! I bet he would look absolutely FABulous in a Batman style suit, even if his legs are getting a little skinny, but hey: who am I to talk? heh. That's funny in my brain.

so yeah - no Koreans at the gym. Now, in our neighborhood, there is a large Korean contingent, and they were active members of this gym in every area. I don't know if there's a new gym opened up somewhere and they've all just taken their business elsewhere, or what. I guess its just the absence of the barking dog that is noteworthy. I 'm still going to keep on with my Korean language lessons via podcast though.  As an aside, appropros to nothing, the first Buddha I ever saw was the golden reclining Buddha in Korea when I was very little. There's a photo of me, all two feet of me as a three-year old, bowing in respect to that statue. Gosh, I would love to find that.

Today I feel like I did a good job working my arms and shoulders, and my butt is a little throbby and tingly from all the squats and lunges I did. It just feels good to move it, move it.  Tomorrow morning, the gym will be replaced with a frenetic cleaning dervish to prepare for guests in the evening, but that too counts. yar. and yay! clean house!
