With the election over, so ends my "busy" journalist career. No more school board, no more candidate debate and no more "welcome to the gayest election night in Winnipeg history." I don't know what I will do with all the extra sleep. All told I really did enjoy everything we had to go to. Kaj's post election party was quite fun, the school board wasn't that bad and I really enjoyed the candidate debate in the Daniel Mac ward. Seeing first hand what a tool Trudy Turner really is makes me even less sad that a)I didn't get the job way back when with the West End biz and b)she didn't get elected.
I realize I am not alone in this, but I just really hate the way things turned out. People are stupid. So maddeningly stupid. I guess I can take small comfort that I and those close to me didn't just go along with things; we tried, and there's no harm in that.
Things lately have been good. School is good. I am constantly amazed at the lack of depth some people have, and how these people are the "norm," but that's nothing new. A class is a funny thing. It is like this strange microcosm of a society, and to watch the daily power shifts and struggles provides me with entertainment and frustration. It's all quite white bread.
Enjoying spending time with the coolest person I know. It is really quite magnificent.
Missing Karen, but enjoying talking for hours on the phone and getting emails with so much substance it almost makes up for her not being here.
