Speechless
I continue to be amazed at the quality of writing that I encounter on a daily basis. No, not in novels -- in fanfiction. Freely-shared, intricate, well-written and well-structured stories written by fans of Doctor Who.
I've read fanfic before, mostly Buffy and Angel. And I encountered a lot of good fanfic from those fandoms too. But there is something about Doctor Who that has struck a chord with me... and apparently with its fans. Is this sheer mass of quality writing due to having an almost 50 year legacy of television episodes, books, comics, and audiobooks to draw from? Likely.
And I am sucking down their prose like a really thirsty thing in a really... um, dry place. Yeah. I need to stretch my writing muscles a bit more before I tackle any fanfic myself.
