Summary: A glimpse into Molly's new life.
Author's Notes: I seem to be losing the ability to think of good titles. Takes place maybe one or two weeks after the season finale. Mapquest!Molly was too strong of a mental image to pass up. Uh, as to how she actually got with them...? << >>;; Err, that's not important, lol. XD
“I can talk to machines, Mom has super strength, and Dad can walk through walls.”
Micah held a screwdriver in one hand and a part of his computer in another.
“What can you do?”
Molly looked up at the smiling boy who had both his eyebrows raised. The house was comfortable, no doubt about it-the furniture matched the rooms; there were lots of books to read and games to play; a lovely baking smell was wafting through the air from the kitchen as Niki cooked. Occasionally, she would walk back into the living room (a slightly frustrated expression on her face as she held a bent, stainless steel spatula in one hand) to check up on D.L., who had been discharged from the hospital not too long ago and was now dozing on the couch.
Molly shrugged.
“I can find people. I just think about them and I know where they are.”
Micah paused as he placed the part back into the computer and screwed it into place. With another deft movement, he snapped the cover back on and turned the laptop over; it gleamed, good as new, as if it had never been dismantled.
“Oh.” He flipped back the lid with a flourish and pressed the on button; the screen flickered to life as the familiar blue welcome screen greeted him. “So you’re like a human Mapquest.”
Molly thought for a second, shrugged, then said: “I guess you could say that.”
A moment passed between them before Micah grinned. “So, you wanna see my new game? I made it myself.”
Fifteen minutes later found Niki in the doorway of their room, the announcement that lunch was ready lingering on the tip of her tongue, a soft smile on her face as she watched Molly and Micah laughing together and fighting playfully over the controls.
She simply couldn’t bear to disturb them.
