Just Another Log Cabin Monday

Jul 20, 2009 23:16

Since I worked all weekend, I had today off. It’s always nice when Andrew and I get the day off together. Today we spent it dog sitting for some very close family friends. They have two 5 month old female pugs named Tes (who is black) and Gracie (who is golden). One of our friends mother recently past away so we were so glad to be able to stay with the doggies while our friends got some stuff done.

The house where they live is a gorgeous log cabin in the woods in Antrim with cathedral ceilings, hard wood floors and a fierce yard filled with beautiful flowers, chickens and cats. The inside is filled with art, pictures and food and is so welcoming. Feels like home no matter who you are. I'd never been there before but Andrew had cleaned the house a few times for our friend's mom. I never met her but I hear she always wanted to meet me and make Chicken Catchatory (sp?) for Andrew and I some night. I'm saddened I never got to meet her before she past.

The dogs were precious though and full of life. We played, we slept, we ate, we played, we watched all 3 Resident Evil movies, and we played. I love those damn dogs. I was overcome with cuteness hour after hour. It was a great day, even though Andrews’s cat was jealous when we got home.

Tomorrow I work both jobs morning into evening. I don't like doing it, but I don't mind it either. It gives me time to go to bed early in order for me to feel refreshed enough for Wed. Steph and I are going into Boston to eat and hang out and explore. We did it last week on Wed too and had an absolute blast. I just hope I don’t get any weirdo customers tomorrow like the old man we completely stole an entire purchase right in front of me because he turned around and couldn’t hear me say "excuse me sir, you still have to pay...excuse sir!" Old man just walked right out. I hate old people. Ok... I don’t hate them all.... just the slow f-ed up ones in Peterborough who are so old they shouldn’t leave their house. I guess I shouldn’t even get into me ignoring children of a free bake sale in Boston when they asked me for a donation. :/

Anyway, when we started in Harvard last week, we hit up the cd stores where we (Steph) found mucho great music. The Trucks and Juliet are the two I've been listening to the most.

After the subway ride into the city we walked around the Commons, then up through Beacon Hill. We stopped by the old Beacon Hill Fire Department fire house that’s has been there since Boston was created. Not too far from Cheers; located on the corner of Charles and Mount Vernon, The BFD is also the "house" where MTV's The Real World was filmed in 1996. The cast was Jason, Sean, Syrus (who is currently filming the new Challenge), Montana, Elka, Genesis and Kamelah. The outside of the building looks the same as well as the neighborhood and the Firehouse is FINALLY re-opened! I'm sure it has been for a few years but the last time I visited the landmark it was a rundown, abandoned building surrounded by rumors of becoming a Childs center. Sure enough, that’s what it is. They call is the backyard of Beacon Hill where kids can have birthday parties and run around and do crafts and child like things of the sort. We peaked in since part of the huge red door was opened. The inside walls including the phone room and back hallway and doors are the same. The floor I think may be different or just old so it looks different. The only major difference was that the spiral staircase is gone, and the ceiling looks patched over. The spiral staircase was there was I visited in 2002(ish). I'll have to go back and take photos. I didn’t take any this last time cause it just felt good to be there. We walked the whole neighborhood and were impressed. I'd live around there if I lived in Boston.

Speaking of big cities...
I should be in San Francisco at the moment. If my exhaust hadn't shit the bed, I would have had the money to spend on the trip. Oh well, Spike and the gang are having a BLAST at the Indigo Girls two night run at The Fillmore (without me).

I spoke about how my neighbor returned but guess who we haven’t seen in a while now... Sid. The snake we had outside our house. I mowed the lawn a couple times and now he's gone. Thank goodness, even though I was getting use to him.

The big white dog that use to lay and or jump out in front of your car as you drove by his house in Bennington has been gone for a while too. I wouldn't be surprised if some big truck hit him. It’s a back road but I'm not lying... he would wait behind a tree until someone drove by and would jump out EVERY time and then chase the car.

I saw a lost dog that broke my heart in a busy area the other day in MA too.

I suppose I should go to bed soon, but I must finish up with some Amy Ray squee-ing.

Usually the wait for a tour leg is my favorite part. The anticipation and build up make it all worth while - but I am finding it so hard to wait for the A Ray 4 Day. I can't wait to ht the road and see my friends and hear some music.

In the meantime I can follow Tori's tour on Undented. During her last show, in Phoenix, the 7th of the tour, she stopped in the middle of Police Me during the encore to tell security in the front to leave her friends alone, that they, "dance like that every night." After a back and forth bit, she had lost where she was and improved the entire middle of the song since the band never stopped. She picked back up and finished it out and it was simply amazing. She finally sang Mary Jane at a show too!!! 60 songs in 7 shows so far. Unreal.
