I really liked this one too. Coincidentally, my contribution to the meme when it first went up also used the prompt "pearl", among others, and was called "Pearlescent Friction", but I didn't use the metaphor as extensively as you did.

Thanks so much. I saw your post but I haven't read it yet (I'm really slow about reading stuff, I feel like I'm a lousy friend in that way). I like the way you combined several of the prompts (just based on the title.)

You don't need to apologize! Reading stuff takes concentration, and original fiction takes more of it since you don't know what to expect.

I guess I've always been more a writer than a reader. That's an adorable cat in your icon.

Thank you. Here's her sister.

So cute. She looks a lot like my parents cat Chingachgook. Very similar fur color, eyes and markings.

The first cat is De Soto (she likes to explore) and the second is Maya. Their sister is Candy and their mother is Sofia. That's Sofia.

So you have 4 all in all? Very cool. I've been cat crazy since I was six years old. I currently have 3 furrballs in my life, my parents cats Chingachgood and Uncas (named after James Fenimore Coopers The Last of the Mohicans novel)and my grandmother's cat Murphy who wishes very much that I would go away (except when I pet him).

Actually we have five: momcat, her three daughters, and an unrelated cat who we inherited from my mother-in-law when she died.

I have icons of mom and two of her daughters. I took the other daughter's picture while she was using the litter box and she looks understandably grumpy. The fifth cat rarely comes in the den and hid when I went looking for her, so I don't have a picture of her.
