Some Indignities Have Their Rewards

As a proper Lolita, I strive to be queenly in all things, my model being the regal nonchalance of Marie Antoinette (pre-Bastille, of course).

Of course I don’t suppose Marie Antoinette ever rode a motorbike, particularly one driven by an unhinged woman-child such as Ichigo.

As we speed unsteadily around the curves in the road Ichigo shrieks with laughter and I shriek with terror. All thoughts of dignity are forgotten. My carefully arranged curls are becoming quite disheveled, there is grease on my stockings and my dainty petticoats are flapping dangerously in the wind.

Why do I subject myself and my wardrobe to this?

I have my reasons.

When we hit a bump I hold on for dear life, pressing myself against Ichigo’s back, my arms tight around her waist. She pats my knee reassuringly and even though I’m horrified that both her hands aren’t on the handlebars it makes me smile. Even when we finally slow down, I hold her tight.

A proper Lolita strives to be queenly in all things, but some indignities have their rewards.
