lgbtfest
I'm very excited about lgbtfest which is "A fest for fan fiction focused on the experience of being lesbian, gay, bisexual, or transgender."
One of the things that often bothers me about fan fiction with it's guys who are "gay for each other" and "everyone at Hogwarts is gay" tropes is how disconnected it often is from the realities of homosexual experiance. Things like coming out, community and dealing with stereotypes, families, shame, stupid laws and stupid people. Also all too often lesbians and transgendered/intersex/asexual people are sorely under represented.
lgbtfest is taking prompts until 03/07/08. There are alread about a dozen I'd like to snag.
