I wrote Cameron! OMG!

They don’t talk because his room isn’t fully dark; the light from the streets are all over the walls and she hates her reflection.

His mouth is hot against hers and she digs her nails deeper, deeper into his shoulder. His kisses are brutal and mocking and I fucked Stacy here is hanging above them each time he thrusts into her.

When she dresses to leave, her reflection is long and silvery and wispy against the wall and she wants to reach out and make it all right.

He doesn’t turn around when the door shuts.

*

He apologizes to Wilson the next day and she hugs him.

He throws her onto the bed that night; his lips bruising hers and drawing blood and tasting metallic.

-Don’t make me do things I don’t want to- he whispers coldly and the warm breath against her shoulder makes her shiver even more.

She knows him too well to take him seriously.

*

He comes to the conference room and she’s sitting there, eyes blank and gaze unwavering. She looks up and tells him about her patient and he makes her coffee.

It tastes bitter

their hands brush

and one sip leaves her lips dry and parched

and his hand is warm against hers

but she drinks it anyway

and it sort of feels like support.

For a moment, it’s normal. She thinks of wine and restaurants and flowers and dresses but he asks her if she wants to share a pizza.

“Not today. Maybe tomorrow,” she smiles. There’ll always be many more tomorrows.

Tomorrow never comes.

*

She asks him if he challenges himself because there’s nothing else for him to do.

He answers by pinching her so hard in the arm that she almost lets out a strangled gasp.

This time, it’s the men’s bathroom and its ironic how his leg doesn’t seem to bother him that much when her thighs are on each side of him and he’s pulling at her tangled hair in an attempt to break them.

The door opens and Wilson walks in. One look at the lipstick on House’s cheek and the disarrayed state of her hair and he’s walking out without so much as a comment.

House’s “yes” can barely be heard over the door slamming but she hears it anyway.

*

He talks to her that night. Mainly to ask if she owns The O.C. on DVD but it’s still conversation and the lights are on.

“Have you ever been in love with someone except Stacy?” she asks suddenly.

He downs his beer and looks away.

When she leaves, she allows herself to hope for something.

(wine and restaurants and flowers and dresses)

*

Wilson is looking at her with a mixture of pity and compassion and she resists the urge to scream at him.

He comes into the conference room and makes her coffee. His eyes scream if you need someone, I’m here and she wonders if this is how he meets all his future wives.

The coffee is sweet

their hands don’t touch.

She pours it down the sink as soon as he’s gone.

*

Friday night and she’s kissing House in the parking lot and it feels normal and romantic and nice for a minute until he brushes her off. She follows him home anyway.

His fingers are long and smooth and warm inside her and she gasps over and over again and tries not to picture Wilson standing there with sweet coffee.

She makes him come later that night and he screams out his name.

When she leaves, he increases the volume of the TV.

*

He comes out of Wilson’s office after a very long time and asks them to use a safer option.

She doesn’t want to think about what they might’ve been doing.

(lips crashing and him pushing Wilson up against the wall and his hands in Wilson’s hair and they both come together, faces displaying nothing but ecstasy and satsifcation)

When they’re all gone, she goes in and slaps Wilson.

*

His office is very different from House’s, mainly because it smells of him and bile rises in her throat.

They stare at each other in surprise (anger, disbelief?) before he crosses the short distance and kisses her. His kiss is warm and reassuring and it’s right there and mocking her.

For a second, she thinks of begging. Something along the lines of what do you have over House that I don’t? but her pager goes off.

He gives her a winning smile, his eyes crinkling and face transforming beautifully and it’s the ugliest thing she’s ever seen.

*

House is in pain.

She wants to go forward and comfort him, do something, let him have her, but he’s there and he doesn’t care enough to notice the pain and House follows him.

He turns back at the last moment and she knows she’s caught.

His eyes say it’s over and she bites her lips because she will not cry over this.

“Ready?” Chase asks from behind and she nods.

*

She kisses him a week later and says it’s because she needs to do his blood work.

He kisses her back and runs his fingers through her hair and gives her a fake name and ID.

She doesn’t say it’s because she needs closure about something that wasn’t there in the first place.

He doesn’t say that he’s lying.
