Holding my breath

I've checked with my admissions counselor at UT Dallas, and unless something very odd happens, I'll be admitted to UTD in the fall with 47 credits toward my Neuroscience degree. I still have to meet with an academic advisor and map out what classes to take for the next few semesters, but so far, it's looking good.

Wow. So you're going to be a brain surgeon?

Possibly. I picked Neuroscience because it's a broad discipline. I've got the option of going into neurology, neurosurgery, psychiatry, psychology, teaching, or even law, if I scored high enough on the LSAT. Neuroscience gives me the most options with the fewest wasted hours based on what I've taken and what I need to take to go for law or medicine.

So, short answer, yes, I'm leaning toward neurology or neurosurgery (probably the former), but I'm keeping things open.

don't forget AI on that list! And scarily, marketing people are starting to take note of what neuroscience tells us about people's decision-making processes....

Hey, if you go Neurology and you do anything where you need test subjects for Narcolepsy, gimme a shout.

Well, it's going to be a few years before I even finish my unergraduate degree, but I'll keep your willingness to be a guinea pig in mind. :)
