Okay, I guess I'd rather be packing than unpacking. It's incredibly daunting to look at all these boxes.
Also, I wish I had curtains or something. The last two places I rented both had Venetian blinds in place, so I didn't have to think about privacy. Here, big bare windows and near neighbors. I went and got a tension rod so I can hang a curtain in the bathroom window, at least, but I feel like I have to wait on other curtains because my mother is visiting next weekend (in ten days) and has decided that curtains are her job. She will feel hurt if I do anything without her.
I also need to put shelf paper in the cupboards before I'll feel good about unpacking the kitchen -- which seems kind of grungy in comparison to the other rooms, which all got repainted and recarpeted. New tile floor in the kitchen, but forty-year-old (looking) cupboards with correspondingly old-looking shelf liners. So I just dropped a bunch of money at Bed, Bath, and Beyond, and am now lurking in a Panera mooching WiFi (and eating, since I was ready to faint) and sneakily dl-ing the Ogura ep of VSA (subbed) because I am an addict. But I've been here a LONG time! And still haven't scrolled through all the posts from the last three days!
I may have my own internet at home by Monday. But the AT&T rep said, "well, it looks like you're right on the edge of the service area, so we may not be able to give you service after all. The technician will check." Which doesn't mean the edge of AT&T's service area, but the edge of any non-dial-up service. I really hope that these dark prophecies do not come to pass, or I will be tempted to break my lease. I WILL DIE. I cannot spend the rest of my life in Panera downloading TV from Japan.
Okay, gotta go get some groceries -- to put in the mini fridge, because I don't have a fridge yet! The landlord wanted all the appliances to match, so I have to wait till the 29th. Well, it will be nice to have a new fridge that's not full of someone else's mold. I will plant my own mold in it!
