I need to re-learn how to relax. I used to be able to pass an entire day just watching telly or playing my PS2, but these days I feel like I'm slacking and not doing anything if I do that. I get that niggling voice at the back of my head telling me to go and do some work on my websites, or write something, or edit something.
I'm way too stressed and I think it needs to change a little.
So 2007 is going to be a good year for me I think. I've got a great new Paranormal Romance series coming out that I have big plans for and I know everyone is going to love it as much as I do. People will be crazy not to read this. I'm not normally this excited about my stories, but this whole series has me buzzing.
It also has my author friend Maria buzzing a little too, and a few other people who've had a chance to read some of the first story. It proves that I'm not going crazy then. I must be onto a good thing.
I've got some serious writing goals this year, including selling 500 copies of a story. This doesn't sound like much to most authors and readers out there, but it would be a great achievement for me. It's going to take some serious marketing work, but since this is a series I'm talking about, and it's one that already has ten novel length stories and a bunch of shorts planned, it will pay off.
Apart from the writing targets, which I'm still finalising, I'm planning on being a little more healthy. I'm sure you authors know from experience that writing can play havoc with your health. You seem to develop this tendency to neglect your health, stress builds up as you pile more pressure on yourself, and all exercise seems to fly out of the window!
This year I'm going to try and get the writing/life balance reconfigured. More exercise, better food and a more positive attitude will probably benefit my writing in the long run. I'll write less, but I think I'll be happier. I can't keep going at this rate or I'm going to have a breakdown before I'm 30! I'm also going to start learning Japanese and will hopefully take up Kendo later in the year when I'm fitter. It's something that I'm sure I'll love.
On the healthier eating front, I actually had a salmon sandwich today. Doesn't sound like much does it? But I'm not a big fish eater. I used to eat salmon occasionally but went off it when I entered adulthood. Actually I went off fish completely. This year I started eating Cod again. Now I'm going to start eating Salmon I think. Fish is apparently very good for you... It's all I need to know to get me to give it a go again. And look, I haven't felt like being sick yet so this Salmon thing can't be too bad. :)
Well, I won't be around again before New Year, and I'll post my final list of resolutions then...
So from me to you...have a great New Year with family and friends. Don't drink too much, definitely don't drive after drinking. Take great care of yourselves and I'll see you in 2007!
Love
