Japan!
I'll just make a little post about Japan as I don't really know what to say about it without waffling on and on about how wonderful it was. It really was amazing and I'm so glad that we caught the autumn colours as they were stunning. I have photos but nothing edited yet so they're all far too big to link to.
The cities I visited were amazing, the people were really friendly and it was great to finally meet my brother-in-law's girlfriend, Kozue. She met us one night in Tokyo and took us to an Izakaya (traditional japanese pub). It was brilliant because there was no way myself and my hubby would've been able to go there without here. The language barrier would have thwarted our attempts.
My most poignant memory of the whole trip was one night in Kyoto. We were walking up to the Sanjo-Keihan intersection and I could hear music. I first thought it was someone with their stereo on too loud but when we got closer we realised that there was a band playing by the bridge. They had a drumkit, amps and everything. They were absolutely amazing. We just had to stop and listen. They're very british sounding, but obviously singing in Japanese. They're called The Opening Cloud. I gave them a healthy tip when they were moved on by the police, and was thrilled to be able to get their EP from them. I'm listening to it right now. I've never heard such a great band just playing on the street before. Someone needs to sign these people. Really, seriously!
All in all the trip was astounding. I've always wanted to go to Japan since I was small and it was a dream realised to actually go there. I loved every minute of it, even the bad leg! lol.
