On a different note, I did end up going to Café L'étranger and quite liked the place. It wasn't as small as I'd hoped, but I can see myself spending more time there when I'm wandering the downtown area. You should definitely pay it a visit when you get a chance :)

Did it feel like a place where you could sit down and accomplish some crafty writing? I don't claim to be a writer but I am always interested in finding places that may be my muse.
Which reminds me... the cavernous Barfly (pub) in Prague. According to the Lonely Planet guide it was a site that turned out quite a few well known writers but when I found the bar it was rather disappointing being so well lit and trendy that I didn't even stop walking as I passed by.
