Wan Chai to Aberdeen

Feb 07, 2017 23:02

I did a morning hike with San yesterday, walking up the steep Wan Chai Gap to Stubbs Road, then a leisurely stroll to the Aberdeen Country Trail, passing both Aberdeen lower and upper reservoir and finished it off with a local breakfast of Congee and cheong fun at the Aberdeen town Centre. We even managed to do some marketing at Aberdeen market. All in all, we took slightly over 2 hours. 1 hr 15 mins for the walk and the balance for our indulgent breakfast and gallivanting around the market. ☺️.

I had walked up this Wanchai Gap Road countless time. You can enter it from Stone Nullah lane, opposite the Blue House or you can enter it from Queens Road East besides the old Post Office.

The walk up to Bowen Road and subsequently Stubbs Road is rather steep but it can be done in half an hour. Once we reached Stubbs Road, we crossed over to the Pavilion and walked towards this Aberdeen Reservoir Road.

Once we got onto Aberdeen Reservoir Road, it is a very neat path, with chairs, tables and pavilion along the way.

Since we had time, we decided to walk the Aberdeen Reservoir.

Lower Aberdeen Reservoir (香港仔下水塘)

There's ruler at the side of the reservoir to measure the water level.

A nice rest area with BBQ pits.  The structure that is fenced up is an olden day rain gauge.

Front view of the rain gauge.

We went on to the Upper Reservoir...

The Country Trail Path

And we get the view of the new Wong Chuk Hang MTR statio, Aberdeen Marina Country Club and the surrounding.

The Country Park is really a very pleasant for walks.

Upper Aberdeen Reservoir.

There's also a kid's walk near the Aberdeen entrance of the Country Park.

Think this is an easy and nice walk where one can bring the kids along and ends at the Aberdeen centre for a simple meal.
