It's the Easter Weekend and since both Good Friday and Easter Monday are public holidays in Hong Kong, we have a long weekend. We ventured to Guangzhou for a short getaway. It's a three hour car ride (or 2 hrs by train) from Hong Kong, very much like travelling from Singapore to Malacca.
Guangzhou is the third largest Chinese city, after Beijing and Shanghai, and the largest city in South Central China. It is the capital city of Guangdong ProvinceIn 2014 the city's administrative area was estimated to have a population of 13,080,500.
Guangzhou has a land area of 7,434 km².
As an important commercial city of China, Guangzhou is best known for the Canton Fair (held in April and October), which is a comprehensive one (Fair) with the longest history, the highest level, the largest scale, the most complete exhibit variety, the broadest distribution of overseas buyers and the greatest business turnover in China.
Guangzhou City is filled with very impressive buildings and the infrastructure are all very new. I realised many of them are completed around 2009/2010 thereabout. I was rather impressed by their spanking new subway stations and trains (Guangzhou Bus Rapid Transit or BRT in short).
